Ok, I admit it. SAO’s Alicization arc wasn’t that bad.

And that’s why I chose to write my own spin on it in my first novel, lolololol!

For real tho, you can blame Reki for kick-starting the isekai trend, but give him time, and he can write a somewhat decent novel. Who knows, maybe his work inspired the top litRPGs on Amazon right now, and believe me, I do enjoy them. Way better than anything Earnest Cline could ever write, that’s for sure (sadly, some find him a huge inspiration).

I don’t like the word flattering, but my Discord homies always touted me as a “better writer,” even though my original intention was to write expies, and that’s it. The bar wasn’t even that remotely high anyway. And so, this may be the dumbest thing you’ll ever hear a human being say, but I sincerely believe Reki inspired the better isekais/litRPGs we read today. Again, the bar isn’t high, but still.

In all honesty SAO isn't that bad. People just shat on it because ironic weebs wanted to join in on the hate bandwagon because it got popular from normies. I've read so much garbage here and in novelupdates that at this point I'd rate SAO as suprisingly decent.
Also considering the fact that the WN of SAO started in like 2002

Your opinion is still garbage tho.
Indeed, it was… Then again, I did say the bar wasn’t even high. More like deep underground, in fact.

Also, holy shit, SAO started in 2002? I was deadass watching The Incredibles 24/7 every time I came back from preschool, lmao. Basically, when this Reki mf wrote his self-insert Mary Sue, I nearly ate a whole bottle of Elmer’s glue…

Despite genuine and bandwagon critique and hate, SAO has always been okay, it has its shining moments, but it's quite okay. Nothing too outlandishly terrible.
And speaking of said genre at the risk of sounding like some 'Le wrong generation' kinda guy...
I do wish that the dot.hack series got a bit more love though.

SAO is pretty okay yeah, I still find myself watching a few episodes here and there whenever I need to get inspired for something along the same line.

it will always have a special place in my heart too
the author wasn't perfect, but did the best he could do~
nothing can compare to the first half of season one
but the whole series has been neat, will it ever be done?
