Non-underdog stories?

I think legendary moonlight sculptor had the best approach to a "underdog" but not an "underdog" story.

Weed from that is legitimately good at video games, like to the point he was rank #1 in the game before.

But life and circumstance hold him back. He's had to struggle to survive. I related to that. Life just sucks sometimes.

I think the big thing is he never fell into self loathing, he just pushed and pushed. At the same time, he doesn't think he's the best thing since sliced bread. The author ends up using him misunderstanding people liking him well.
