I just read a chapter where a character in a book took a bribe to set up the MC, eventually leading to his death.

MC survived. He negotiated that character to be executed by his hand all in one Chapter. Bro had a family and everything. Still deleted him.

I legit thought the author was going to chicken out.

This MC is that type of guy who just wants to be in a corner doing his own thing. The moment he sees injustice or bullying he goes ape shit.

I kind of tried to do that with Digital Cowboy. Ex-Marine sniper, has no problem taking the law into his own hands type guy.

Not completely sure I succeeded. Kind of stalled writing due to life getting in the way - and at a moment when a not-too-close friend is about to reveal he's a spy (but because he does NOT want to betray the MC ... but will if he can protect his girlfriend by doing so. and wants him to know that).

That spy’s life is complicated. Does he drink? Sounds like he can’t sleep at night…
