that's what the dictionary said, but in application: most people actually using the wrong word and it somewhat becomes correct.

most people somewhat using the word niche as the opposite of cliché

just like some people in my country using the word anarchy to replace violence, despite the sentence has nothing to do with government at all.

that's just how language works I guess.
