@DannyTheDaikon Good job! I also exercise daily, so it is nice hearing you are making progress!

14.1.2024

So, Duolingo was buggy today, and didn't let me do any practice. I honestly love the pressure of the hearts' system there for the free plan to get some refreshers in. If I am blocked from it, I honestly don't know what I'd do. I hope I just caught it on a buggy day.

Anyway, I watched some videos on Grammar and pronunciation to round up the hour. Funny thing: There are no Grammar notes on the Swedish Duolingo. Today I had to learn about the plural from a video.

Happy writing, everyone!

The problem with the practice is something other people have gotten as well. But, one can find something good even in bad things. As a result of no longer being able to get more hearts when I want, I was more careful during my lessons today. Lost just one heart. Also, I opted out of the public profile. Yes, I could see my exp in the league, but is that really important?

Did my hour, will probably do a review tomorrow.

Funny thing, if Duolingo still had monthly plans, I might have paid for a couple of months until I finished with it. But to pay for an entire year, when I most likely don't need it for more than 5 months? As if!

Happy writing, everyone!

Away, owl! If I have to pay, then for a real app! - Doravg as she pays for Babble's 6-month plan.

So, after a bit of research, I came to a grim truth. Duolingo is not only not free, but the Swedish course is so bare bones, that I might as well download an Anki deck. These led me to go on Reddit and see what the other people are using, which led me to babble. I have to say, the lessons there are good.

Sure, if I hadn't done the Duolingo up to the point when it wanted my money, I would have probably understood nothing, but I did good today. Did my 1 hour, even if I still need to do 10 more activities. Might do them later as a review.

But on the bright side, there are pronunciation lessons on Babbel, and the sentences are spoken by native speakers. The plan I paid for will be good for me because it gives me a deadline.

In six months I would complete the Swedish Babbel, and move on to Clozemaster! And in a year, I might read a book in Swedish. One day, one bright day, I will spread BL to the non-suspecting Swedish speakers.

BL... and the word of the Flying Spaghetti Monster!

Ramen.

Happy writing, everyone!

Money well spent. Since you are passionate about the language, you did well to invest in a better plan.

Update:
Finished all my chapters for the week. Still need to do another editing pass on one of them but that is fine, I can do that tomorrow morning.

Going to try and get some extra words out and make some more chapters :blob_evil_two:

Crossed 50,000 words for the year yesterday, well on pace for my goal of half a million, and well enough I might set a stretch goal of 750k as well.

And now, back to the writing!
Hell, there's one guy in our little group already at 115,000 words for the year. Methinks you're barking up the wrong tree for any sort of advice.
That's still very impressive! I think I've only done about 10,000 so far.

@LuoirM Gratz on getting a following! @RiaCorvidiva I would really like to get the motivation of your friend. Just imagine how I can spam my readers with so many words per month! (evil grin) @Bobple gratz on keeping your readers happy!

17.1.2024:

I did my hour. Wasn't really feeling like it, but the app is friendly. Even though I made mistakes, it spurred me on.

Happy writing, everyone!

Are you ok? And, honestly, if you want to churn up chapters like there is no tomorrow, then there is something you can do:

Work, don't think, relax.

Nothing more to it than that. (I shamelessly stole this from a book. Zen in the Art of Writing, Ray Bradbury)

Did my one hour of Swedish. I don't know why, but Babbel has this classroom feeling to it. It is not as colorful as Duolingo, but it is solid. Tomorrow I will do a complete review of all I have learned so far on Babbel.

Happy writing, everyone!

Did my hour. I reviewed the Babbel lessons which I did until now, and then went to Clozemaster. Started the most common words section. It is funny because when I started using Clozemaster with German I thought that I couldn't have made any progress there without my months of Duolingo, but for some reason I am doing fine after only 19 days of Swedish.

There are words which I guess based on how close they are to English and German, and the rest I just mistake and learn as I go. Getting lessons from more than one place should be good in theory.

Happy writing, everyone!

I did my hour, the first two newcomer courses in Babbel are done with, but I will probably do a review tomorrow and a bit more Clozemaster. Also, I am writing this without my glasses on!

Happy writing, everyone!

Did 4 chapters last week, and 4 chapters this week.
Time to slow down and try and find a good balance. But maybe more fun news tomorrow.

Also on the excise side of things, that has been going good. Been going a lot of physical work at the farm, and being doing small amounts of excises everyday. I don't care much losing wait, just moving better, and I have been moving better.

Have gotten 4 chapters out in the last 72 hours, plus a bit of other writing as well. Means I've been keeping at least a 3k per day pace. Definitely still on track.
