Naruto fanfic idea

Naruto world but with monster and demonic spirits instead of just the tailed beasts.
While reading a Naruto fanfic and a monster fantasy story in tandem, this idea sorta formed in my head I wanted to get to work on it right away, but I've got other stuff to do so just wanted to put this out there in case I forgot.
Also, I noticed that no one ever made Kushina survive and let her be a badass or paint Minato in a negative light, someone who seemed to have got everything he wanted. I wanted to touch upon how the power could've gone into Minato's head and made him basically the worst.
Also wanted to add youkai and wanted the Uchiha clan to survive. I always found it dumb that they didn't. I know Sasuke won't be depressed-edgy if they survive, don't worry, he'll still be a goth, just not as edgy as the canon one.
And youkai spirits other than the nine tailed beast still can't believe no one has thought about adding more have got to add those when I have time

I once wrote a naruto fanfic and kinda understand why I don't like to change too much in the story.

Firstly, the whole naruto family gone thing is mainly because Naruto's personality stems from that. Remove that and you basically got a boring story which Naruto's personality completely flipped in reverse since he doesn't losing anything at all and his nakama thing would not be good or relatable. Which makes it harder to build a proper plot on that.

Second, the whole uchiha wipe thing is a tough subject to touch upon and the story might cause a rift which would in turn break the narrative and hard to follow a plot for future chapters.

Lastly, naruto and sasuke's relationship stems from the family bond they have(naruto never having a family while sasuke's mental breakdown and awakening of his sharingan). So, it wouldn't be interesting if you gave them a family and normal life is why they should always be portrayed based on their personalities.

This is just me rambling on and I'm kinda tired so I'll stop here for tonight.

Bun bun honey, if you change the background/personalities of the characters, it isn't fanfic anymore. Fanfics excel when you create a world or a character using the same personalities they are known for. You know MHA cinnamon roll Deku or explosive Bakugo. In Naruto edgy lord Sasuke and dumbo Naruto.

Unless you can show them as they were made to be, just create a new world with your own characters. Be inspired by Naruto world, instead of doing a fanfic. No one said ever that you can't create a similar world and fill it with your own characters/back grounds. God knows how many people actually do this. Make a Ninja world of your own. c:

I never said they'd have normal lives, they are still going to suffer, just not from the loss of family, also I still plan on making them bond just over something else.
As for Naruto's personality, I changed it up a bit. I'll make them a lovable idiot, but not too naïve who's quick to anger cause of all they have suffered, arrogant and sorta narcistic.
As for Sasuke I made him arrogant as well, but not as much as Naruto and make him calculative and think more than the normal person, almost border line robotic on his thought process, I still want his dream to be to take down Itachi and the Konoha village.
Also, the normal Naruto plot doesn't even apply to my rendition of it since Naruto and the rest will be in their early twenties when the timeline of the story begins.

True, but I wanted to see how it'll be if they were different and the world was different. I will probably make it into an original series at some point, but for now I'm making it a fanfic.

soul reapers, so no, not exactly, but lets be honest. The closest we ever get to a real ghost is that scary masked bastard that appears with the Reaper Death Seal.

It is why they are rarely good. They miss the characters where they shine and instead get morphed into monsters that can't even be recognized. Sadly... There are also reader series out there. At that point though, I would just create another story using the same worldish? Idk...

Yep. I don't know why people are so adamant about using the characters that they would change so much that the only similarity between the original and new ones would be a namesake. Or the world that those writers are going to change so much, it stops resembling an old one and becomes generic: we got everything a fanfic author wants, world. Just plagiarize, or use the universe\worldbuilding. But sadly, that way, you probably won't get easy views. And some fanfic writers only care about views.

I actually don't care about views, I still want to keep some characters more or less the same-ish, just tweak it a bit, as well as use the world and sorta the same magic system.
I really don't know how to explain it.
I want to use the same world, characters and magic system just tweaked to my liking to envision someone else's idea just from my perspective.

From what I've seen, it's nearly not the: 'same with some tweaks.' It is a total remodel of the world(story) and characters to your likings. If you tweak a story, the whole balance that the author painstakingly did crumbles. Of course, if the said story was done well. People miss a lot of details precisely because of a change of perspective, and characters deviate much more than a fanfic author intended. It's a butterfly effect. And if you try to forcibly fix it, well, it turns to shit.

I feel like I want to place an idea and you will judge it. Just for the funzies. After all, the story is already there, so let's try the plagiarize route. Since most fanfics fall on this. They aren't using "original characters" (I would say they are since those characters are far from what they are meant to be). They also use the same world. I will use the example that I excel at writing romances.

Let's use the Naruto world since it is the topic of the thread. Never written a fanfic, but I feel like they can be either easy or hard to do. Like you said, most of these characters end up being namesakes alone at the end. (If you like a name, just use it instead of using the same characters or butcher of them). For my take in a fanfic, let's pick an MC as the object of the romance since those are easier to tweak, I guess?

Naruto already has high levels of bromance between Sasuke and Naruto. (Don't ask me but I swear those two should have ended together at the end.) It also has romance at weaker levels. Hinata/Sakura simping for the boys. We know that Naruto is "in love" with Sakura for most of the story. (No one can change my mind that his true love is Sasuke.)

I would have that same thing happen, while he slowly falls for the new mc inserted into the story. Have her be someone he visits or a teammate of another team? Something along those lines. Hinata filled that term, but we all know how that romance went. It was basically ignored until the movie when Naruto magically falls in love with her. (Yes, there were a few scenes before that, but I would not count that as falling for her.)

So, we can follow the entire plot to the T, while changing who he loves easily and slowly. Tweaks can be made like making the new MC an extra teammate because of x&y reasons. Heck, have them interact while they are in the town or something like that. Or someone to save like a side mission and that is where they meet. (This one sounds like the best one out of all of them.) Or have her be the temporary teammate over some missions, while they play out the same.

It has to be something that doesn't ruin the main plot or shift it to their view alone too. This is the hard part. Naruto goes to face a baddy, while MC is a spectator because they were injured or something. After all, Naruto is the MC of his story. He is the one who unites and sees everything go through.

I mean the world has to be the same for it to be fanfic, which means the plot has to be almost identical. This way, one doesn't risk changing the personalities of the characters. Sasuke stays the same edgy lord, while instead of focusing so much on the bromance, maybe tone it down a bit and have Naruto look at someone else. While still preserving the desire to save his friend.

Or we could try to write a tragedy by having the new MC fall for Neji. Heheh...

After writing this, I feel like this is stupidly hard to do. So, I will keep to my original takes and worlds. xD

I know when and where that character can be placed. After Sasuke leaves the hidden leaf village, you could then introduce the character as a new member of team seven right before Naruto leaves.
Naruto, instead of leaving, would say that he wants to stay after the new character convinces Naruto to stay due to the influence of Danzo not wanting the Konoha Jinchūriki running around without his will.
They later learn that the person is a secret anbu like Sai, but still sticks with team 7 despite all that transpired, but now Sakura is interested in them and not making the same mistake she did with Sasuke.
She treats them like a person, not a weapon and they fall for each other, while the OC and Naruto fall for each other.
