My WIP is about a battle royale tournament where the winner ascends to godhood for ten years. At first I was going to call the city the god lives in Olympus, but I eventually decided against that because the story takes place in a high fantasy world I made up, and I'd rather avoid the inevitable "How do they know what Olympus is if ancient Greece doesn't exist?" comments. Then I was going to call it Ascentia, since the new god ascends to it at the end of the tournament, but when I inserted it into the story, it felt weird having to write "Ascentia descended" as many times as I did. So now I'm tentatively calling it Olyssiem, kind of a mix between Olympus and Elysium.

What do you guys think? Should I stick with Olyssiem or come up with something else?

You really like Greek mythology seeing as how you chose two Greek words. Besides Mount Olympus there are also other places like Asgard (Norse gods), Mount Elburz (Persian gods), Ayodhya (Hindu gods, I think), Aetherius/Nirn (Skyrim gods). Truly, I'd try and come up with a new name; for example, if your heaven is full of light then I'd try "Luxia" or "Luxfos", if it's a peaceful place then "Paxeir".

The story has gone through a lot of development in the few months I've been working on it. At first it was supposed to take place on future earth, the competitors were fighting for prize money, and "Olympus" was the mountain-sized skyscraper the ultra rich guy who sponsors the tournament works in. Then it was supposed to be alternate history earth where the Olympian gods were real and ruled the world, and would grant the tournament winner a wish. Then I finally changed it to being an entirely new world with the winner becoming a god themselves, but I kept calling it Olympus because I'd already written so much of it.

I'd try and come up with a new name
I'd like to, but inventing fantasy names is a pit I'll fall into and never be able to climb out of. I will literally spend weeks just naming and renaming characters and places, trying to find the made up word that perfectly exemplifies the feeling I want it to have.

In the UK, there is a hill. It was conquered by invaders and they asked, What is that place called, and pointed at a nearby hill. They said "A Hill" in the native tongue. So the people who took over called it "A Hill" Hill, adding on their own word for hill to the end. Then the area got conquered by someone else, and they hill on the end. Finally, it got conquered by the english, who added, yet again, Hill on the end.

Translated, the hill is called Hill Hill Hill Hill.

Call It City City City City.

Is this Torpenhow? There was another hill that had the same name origin I think but it was only hill hill hill when translated. I forgot which one's which. lol

Anyway, I don't know what you're going for but it would funny if everybody thought a city named Nevaeh sounded cool but it's actually just a word spelled backwards.
I met a couple who named their baby Nevaeh once and I thought it was cool until my partner pointed it out to me.
I was weirdly disappointed by the revelation.

I like mashing together words with the right etymology. In a dnd setting I made, there was a country called Heimriel where a dead god was buried under the capital with many a weird side effect ensuing. Heim meaning home in several Northern European and Germanic languages, and iel which is at the end of many archangels’ names in abrahamic religion, and broadly speaking seemed to mean “of god” when I looked at the meanings of those angels’ names. Ergo, etymological mashup that = “home of god” if you squint, but more importantly felt like a name to my ear when I tossed in the r.

Utopia. The Silver City. The Soul Society. Babylon. Paradise. Argentium. The Estates. Tian or Ding or The North Pole (Chinese). Svargalaka (Indian), Have seen all of these used for the Otherworld or the palace of Ahuru Mazda (the likely source of the concept of Heaven in modern Christianity as classical Judaism had no such concept before it encountered Zoroastrianism) or whatever realm the God or gods rule from.
I would either make something up (like Jerynboe suggests, or like your idea of Olysseum), or look for an obscure translation of "Sky" or "Firmament" as that is where most of the names for Heaven originate.

Or it could just be the COG (City of God) that keeps the Celestial Wheels turning...

... I'd rather avoid the inevitable "How do they know what Olympus is if ancient Greece doesn't exist?" comments.
I usually use the same excuse I do for food: Convergent naming. That is, different myths that have some of the same details, but are largely different. The Olympus in your story need not be the same Olympus from greek myths, just as the one in Disney is different from the greek myths.

I've used that for years. "How do they know what hamburgers are?" Well, my dear reader, first, it's not a hamburger. It's a ground meat patty between two slices of bread. Second, They're not speaking English. They're speaking Common, a language that doesn't actually exist IRL, which means that, as I write it, I'm effectively translating their language into words you can understand. It's not ACTUALLY a hamburger, as there is no beef, nor cows from which to get it. they do have multiple edible monsters and other creatures, and any one of them could be ground up into meat that can be used to make the dish. their word for it is [insert whatever gibberish you want, or invent a language with which to name the dish], but I called it a hamburger so you could understand the basic means of eating, and possibly even the flavor.

In short, it's your story. You can use names and locations and even characters from public domain, which mythology is. You can't use modern reinterpretations, but you can use Olympus as it's own godly city unto itself.

sorry for the rant. This is something I've dealt with extensively.

Why not just Heaven or Sky City or Peak City? God City? Divine Realm? High City? Cocaine City? Las Vegas? Simple is best.

Well, you can always just name the city after a god from your setting. Like the city Athens was named after the Goddness Athena.

The Valley of Slaughter/The Valley of the false God is also known as 'Gehenna' and I've always thought it was a cool name.

Name it after the winner so every
very 10 years it changes its name, or name it after the gods domain, Zeus was God of thunder and lightning so a moniker would be city of light and noise
