My story sucks? Or nobody reads it even though I've written over 128 chaps?

Hey guys! I'm not well interactive with readers and rarely comes to forum. I've been writing this novel (https://www.scribblehub.com/series/1130379/bloodline-devouring-system-emperors-path/) for over an year by now and published around 128 chapters. I published my story in RR and webnovel too. The thing is, my story has too little ratings and no reviews. I've around 190 readers here but nobody did a review. One reader inbox me that my story is good but when I ask him to do review, he change the topic. Now, I'm wondering whether I should really put more effort on this novel or give up. The only thing that motivates me write more is my passion to become an author.

Good day to you. Before we start, please keep in mind that I am the worst author around here, capable of producing nothing more than shit when it comes to writing. Take any of my advice with a grain of salt.

The good news is, your novel doesn't suck. There's a bare minimum of two favorites per chapter, meaning that even if one is from you, someone is reading it. To maintain such a level of engagement for 127 chapters is awesome. Not-so-good news: I have no idea why you don't have more ratings or reviews. Maybe your antagonists are too weak to create an engaging story, or perhaps your heroes don't struggle enough or don't produce enough of an emotional gut punch.

See, there are various markets out there.

Shippers (those who like to pair characters with each other).

Worldbuilders.

Those who like to create theories (to entice them, you must worldbuild well enough and coherently enough, yet refuse to answer a certain lore element under the barrel of the gun. Once you clear things out for them, poof! They are gone. They are the most passionate crowd (churning out fanarts and world maps even faster than the shippers), but good luck getting any of them intentionally).

Power-scalers (those who like to put characters vs. characters).

What-ifs crowds (who theorize the way your story could've gone if the characters had done a different action).

And many more.

If you want engagement, you need to pick up the group and construct a story with them in mind. With an abundance of AI writing LitRPG, the genre becomes oversaturated, sadly.

Not much you can do fixing it here, as the story is already vast, sadly. But there is always the next one and the one after that.

Id say your branding is hurting you more than anything.

The title is kinda janky. Cover is decent.
Synopsis is eh.

Your tags also aren't doing you any favors. They are accurate to the story, but also low frequency tags and really niche stuff so maybe not getting into a lot of searches.

Your opening is a bit of an exposition dump which might turn off some readers right away. But the quality of your prose is solid.

I think you're just getting lost in the saturation. On top of that, reviews are really rare to begin with. Generally, someone has to have something they want to say not only to you, but to everyone else. Most people just dont like writing reviews. Its like asking people to take a survey after a phone call. The vast majority hang up

Ratings are also kind of infrequent. Theyre less work for someone to add but most people wont.

Youre probably doing better than you think.

I'd say you're doing good enough for the cliché looking LitRPG. It's because of similar sounding stories saturation syndrome (trademarked), there's not enough reader interest in that story. Synopsis has that quality of "read when you're need to disengage your mind for a reason", and that's the worst persuasive power a fiction can have.

The problem you have with that synopsis is that it's passively worded. It tells about the MC and the world, sure, but there's no answered exigence, as in "why this story exists, and why it matters right now". If you word it like chinese do, simple and direct, conversational, you'd have more readers showing up. It is written in a western standard, which is fine when it's unique enough. Yours is not. Theres simply not enough persuasive power to grab a reader and at least make him read three chapters.

If you read a lot of web novels, you'd kind of realize that most people don't look for the 'best' story available—they read what they like. In this case, even though I haven't read your work, I'd say it's because readers on SH largely enjoy other genres. There are a lot more factors contributing to it, though.

Based on the number of people who have clicked on your novel vs the number who have actually read the first chapter, the main problem is most likely your synopsis.

I just now changed it. It seems I really bad at making synopsis lol.

Thanks man. Yes, my other novel (Fire Mage) has seperate fanbase for side characters lol. But I focused more on MC's growth in this novel and neglected side characters a bit. I should focus on other characters too. My synopsis seems sucks, I changed it. I got motivated after seeing so many responses.
Try writing gender bending and or futa smut. It'll work.
Lol. My mc has shapeshift-like ability, so I can try gender bending. But I'm not into that futa... I don't even add erotic scenes but I should at least add them here and there maybe. haha. thanks for the tip, man.

I agree with Fairemont's analysis. The cover and the title are too generic. And the synopsis... well, many authors do a crappy job on that front.
My advice on synopsis would be to feed your novel to AI and ask it to generate a short teaser (four sentences max). Nowadays, AIs do a very good job at summarizing.
A good synopsis should hook a potential reader. Not make him/her go into a coma.
