In “survival“ novels or manga, they try to portray struggle, but never do. Usually hand waving any off screen or by using magic. Or worse their a genius in survival at 16yr.

None goes into the MC reversing ages and going into Stone Age.

Even worse (with everything, not just surviving genre) they never make mistakes. Even experts do, and these wannabes make first try. With shit & info channel knowledge

Depends on what you mean by genius. It's not super uncommon for teenage boys to know how to camp and fish. Knowing how to make makeshift tools/shelter, and making clean water also isn't beyond belief.

Yes, but I mean they are Genius~ not actually smart but somehow knows everything of them because I remember on T.V from 10 years back. I meant by, they never fail, never make a mistake in tool making.

I agree that a lot of these stories are unrealistic. However fiction is not real and should not be considered real. If you want to read about real survival then you should probably read it nonfiction survival stories.

The Hatchet was a phenomenal book that actually took real survivalistic ideals and crammed into a book about a kid who knew little to nothing. It is what peak survivalist fiction is but very few people seem capable of replicating it in a meaningful way.

Some 16 year olds have such knowledge but lack the experience. It's a matter of whether the author can make the story seem realistic by making failures a normal and possible thing as you said before.

Webnovels are mostly reader wish fulfillment these days. They're for relaxation and chilling and escaping from the world. If you want actual struggles, then you're going to dive deep to find webnovels that don't go that route. Or better yet, go back to older works before wish-fulfilment was the standard for webnovels.
This is like trying to find a normal romance in wattpad. That's just how things are now.
