It's been just over 24 hours since I joined (maybe closer to 48?), and I was curious to see how I am doing on this site in comparison to others. On Royal Road, it's a bit easier to understand because the algorithm and reader engagement is pretty high and easy to understand, but here it's a little bit more up in the air. Luckily, I have a few friends leading me along. Below the stats I'm about to post, I have some questions I'd love for some veterans to answer.

What have you done on this site that gave you success? What practices do you live by?
How could I push my story to get more clicks? My story is an epic fantasy, so I know it's not exactly the fan-favorite on the site *as compared to isekai and litrpg*
While we're talking about successes.... if you answer any of these, answer this: What successes have you seen on this site so far? Big or small! :D Celebrate them with me.

RR has the same preference for Anime covers, too. I should probably make an anime version of my cover XD

Don't forget about making magic circles and chanting to the demon lords for success every morning and before bed at night. Oh, and promising to give up a piece of your soul for every follower you get. :blobtaco:

Do you think the Royal Road demon lords, and SH demon lords, would get along? I've been chanting to the Royal Road demon lords already.... I don't want them to think I'm cheatin' or nothing.

Meh. Some authors simp for their readers. I make them simp for me.

You gotta hand out chapters sparingly like pieces of candy.

Then Im the one who acquires their souls...slowly, but surely hooking them on an inescapable sugar addiction

Those numbers for 24h are quite amazing. My first chapter was ~600 with 2 favs and 2 ratings.

I posted it earlier, but I'll just do it again since there's no point in writing when it's already written.

You want more clicks? Update a lot. Daily, few times a week, or so. The more your story is on the Recent Updates the more it has visibility. Which won't work for me since I write 3-4k word chapters and post weekly.

Other than that. It will naturally gather attention if it's decently decent. Don't even have to be that much decent. If it's fantasy and adventure it should fare well.

Yes I saw these on another post and they're all really helpful! I spent a while reading through the responses :)

Thank you for the links!

You monster! How many poor souls have you sucked into your stories because of their addictions?!

But no, that's actually great advice. You shouldn't try to supply-demand but give them reasons to want more not to expect more. Like putting updates on schedules draws in a bunch of victims because they're craving that "piece of candy" as you say.

Those are pretty decent stats for someone that just started in Scribbly, good job~

There is no magic trick to get more views though, just keep updating your story and pray for the best~

Is nobody else going to point out that 24 hours is a horribly insufficient amount of time to decide whether or not you're doing 'well'?
Perhaps I should clarify.

I'm not talking longterm success, I am talking about initial entry to the site. Was just garnering an opinion, apologies.

The secret to success is writing the tropes that readers here want to read. That and that alone gets you readers.
Luckily for me, I am full of tropes as a writer. Victory, maybe?:blobrofl:

Work hard, work smart, and work consistently.
Thank you for the advice! <3

Ah just in case you didn't know about this feature, you can quote multiple posts in one by clicking the [+Quote] button under the posts you wish to reply to. You then click the ["Insert Quotes"] button on your own post. It saves on double/triple/multiple posting in a row which is against forum rules.
>w<

Glad you're first day here has made you feel comfortable!
Hope you keep doing well with your story.

*huggles you*
