Exactly that. Like tubular bells 3 but Asian flavoured. Or Antti Martikainen. Got a couple of tunes but that's a band, I am hoping for an actual composer or two.

Well, I'm drawing a blank. I can only come up with bands with vocals, and then only some of their catalogue, since Asian artists tend to go through genre phases. I think there has got to be someone in Japan who fits your description, though. I listen to so much music, maybe I'll stumble across something.

Both of these do have vocals, but they're epic choral style vocals.

This one is dark and mysterious and lovely

This one is upbeat on our way to kick some ass music

I was thinking you might need to look into film and anime soundtrack composers for this type of thing.
