MC's Personality Degrades

Was thinking of looking for this sort of thing as reference for my MC. No spoilers tho.

But anyone know a story where the MC loses someone right in the middle of it and just goes fucking crazy with personality shifts, mood swings? Of course, it'd be cool if it was accompanied with alcoholic addiction and constant trips to the brothel or casino, or just anyway that is harmful, and the MC knows it, but he just keeps on doing so to hide from the truth.

Would be cool if he later on learns to accept the reality or something and gets back to his old self.

Wasn't that towards the end of the anime though? Where he was overflowing with all the powers he stole? Plus he forgot everything so...
