I always thought that the main characters actions were cool from other points of view. However I'm a shit writer so here's a challenge to all writers.
Write a story where you never get to see your MCs POV or thoughts and everything happens through the side characters and or antagonist's POV.
That's definitely possible, or somehow, trick the readers into thinking your main character is actually the main character... but actually, the main character is the main character's friend!
Now that we are talking about this, I actually somewhat saw this visual novel where YOU are the main character, not the MAIN CHARACTER in the game. It was actually a brilliant plot twist executed inside a visual novel... it was actually more of a Doki Doki Literature Club (even though it was the first one created) because of the scary not-related-to-the-game events and 4th wall breaks.
There was also 9nine where YOU are also the main character in the game, helping the supposed-to MAIN CHARACTER in the game. Of course, the natural logic here is that we are unable to think inside the game and our POV can't be inserted in the game because we can't exist or come there, and we can only watch everything unfold outside the monitor.
It is more like a Steins;Gate reference.
Of course, if we wanted to write something with that kind of idea, then we could either make the main character using a SECOND PERSON while the main character is in a FIRST PERSON. If you don't want to go with this idea, you could also resort to plot twists where the main character isn't the main character!
