I do not wish to be a protagonist. I have several of those and put them through Hell. I murder their loved ones, cut off their limbs, make people forget they ever met them, and give them great power only to demonstrate they are not good enough and watch on as they fail all the same, their hopes and dreams fall through their fingers at the last moment, never to be achieved.
No. I am a humble NPC. Yes, powerful, dangerous, and unknowable, but humble, for I merely push the plot along, I am not part of it. No. Protagonism is for you, dear child. You are the young and vibrant hero, not the old and bitter entity that dwells upon the wall. I watch the winter approach. It brings doom to many. I know I should sound the alarm, but I can see you playing in the spring fields.
There is nothing you can do anyways.
I shall let you play a while longer.
