I actually relate to this frustration so much that it’s the reason I started writing my own series.

You’re spot on about the 'mechanical' feel—if the spice isn't an extension of the emotional arc, it just feels like filler. I spent a lot of time trying to solve that exact problem in my book "Bound". My goal was to make sure the intimacy actually feels earned and that the relationship shifts because of those moments, rather than just hitting a word count.

If you're looking for that grounded, 'connection-first' vibe you found in Their Wonder Years, you might find my stuff hits the same itch. I'd love to know if it lives up to your 'non-mechanical' standard.

Some of our characters share such similar names it's actually hilarious (Ruby/Rudy, Elaric/Elric, Lilithara/Lilith). I keep thinking my characters just slipped into an alternate dimension. Love the vibe of your work!
