Recommendations Looking for novels that are written in non English but then author translates it to English.

I am looking for books that authors started off as non English.

And then author use a translation software to make it English and then post it here.

Please recommend.

And ideally tell me what languange it originally is and also what software you used to translate it.

I write it first in Word, in Spanish, since it's my native language and I write faster that way. Then I translate it roughly with Deepl, paragraph by paragraph, while I fix the details myself with my still imperfect English. Although lately I've been trying to write in English from the beginning, to better learn the grammar. With Gemini helping me with some expressions, if I have free time.

I doubt anyone self-translates simply because all writing is intrinsically tied to language. It'd difficult for a writer to write a whole book AND replicate all its lingual nuances in their second language.

IIRC A few writers on here interact with people with Google translate entirely 24/7.

I think someone forgot to tell some people that rule since I've been seeing a lot of chinese stories translations lately.

Always fun to figure that out when the story suddenly starts talking about how great chinese food or they start listing the reasons why chopsticks are the superior eating utensil.

One person up in the Author's section made a comment that this was exactly WHY he translated his stuff to English - to learn how to replicate those nuances, or at least get close to them - in English.

I specifically want to know how things changed or have not changed, since translator software started to incorporate LLM a.i. to the programmer.

Or if a writer used to just use machine translations to make their content English, now use chat bot to translate, is the difference obvious, how oblivious? What's the difference.

Usually those authors who will use MTL, wouldn't be able to tell you what their own voice/thoughts/story sounds like anyway. If they can't speak English they can't convey their voices in explanation either.

So it's a moot point.

Have you ever heard of the fiction "Gospel of Blood?" It's a dark fantasy novel from China with a similar vibe to LOTM. Unfortunately, the novel already has an English translation and is updated on NU. But I haven't seen it translated and published on SH.
