I guess writing adult stories has its own fair share of troubles... oh well, I wonder what's the next title he'll post in the thread because of his firetruck novels. Lemme just grab my popcorn and plastic chair.

I always find writing adult stories more trouble than it is worth, unless he post this in AO3 or Stories Online or Literotica, there will be people being critical about it. Also, age group issue.

Adult stories are created for adults. Readers are adults. Adults. Get too many of 'em in a place and tensions get high.

Is there a way to lock comments for only one chapter?

I noticed some youtube videos do this.

Thanks. You are all very nice people.
I posted a feature request for being able to block chapter comments.

He's putting a red flag on top of a red flag by coming here and posting his adult story that was annihilated from a different writing site. It just proves how his story is getting the worst treatment. And yeah, since this is a free-for-all site, having adult stories gets things complicated.

@CadmarLegend
The true question here is if everyone on this site are all adults? Having spent my time here for a year, I can tell that most people here are calling themselves adults who are actually kids with attitude problems. But well, since I'll assume everyone here aren't dumb, they could figure out what an adult novel is, or what a mature novel is, and find out if they want to read it or not.

As an adult (at least age wise) I like having access to whatever I want. In his case I suspect the problem is that many people strongly dislike certain themes.

Imagine for a moment that GRR Martin was a webnovel author, and ask yourself would he continue writing the books if he could see comments under red wedding chapter.

It takes words and actions to break a sensitive and fragile person, in which, if you consider the possibility, he'd probably stop writing that novel if he knew how much that could affect his name. In any case, different people clearly have problems with different things, that's why having dislikes is an inevitable outcome. But the difference between disliking something for the sake of yourself and the sake of everyone is different.

You've seen his novels, right? That one isn't something anyone would agree with, but then again, it doesn't break the rules. Prolly, people hated and disliked it because it was so bad, they didn't want anyone to read it. Then again, I haven't read his novels, and I won't need to.

You're assuming GRRM doesn't want to be flamed and doesn't get his electrolytes replenished with his readers' tears.

Are you suggesting that he is a vampire, that lives as long as people are angry at his books? And he won't finish the series because he is at peace, and wants the curse to end?

The vast vast majority of people do get hurt by overwhelming wave of criticism, even internet criticism. There is a whole sub-genre on youtube of people losing it because of negative comments.. And if you don't earn money from your novel, the enjoyment is the only reason you write, so people raging on you is reason enough to drop it isn't it? In a way it might be better to be able to block comments for 1-2 chapters.

Though, it might also just be a non-solution to the problem, as instead of commenting on chapter 100, people would comment on chapter 99 or 101.

He means making it so no one can comment on that particular chapter. He previously posted it and it had a hefty amount of reader engagement.
i fear no man but heafy hate comments... that thing it scares me.

:s_eek:

Seriously though, GRRM is an old man. I doubt he cares what 10000000000 internet people say about him or his books. Even if he cared, he could wipe away his tears with $100 bills all day long, lol.

I did say that, and yes, there are people that get triggered by negative comments.

And if you don't earn money from your novel, the enjoyment is the only reason you write, so people raging on you is reason enough to drop it isn't it?
I suppose that depends on who we're talking to - rather, dropping something depends on the spectrum of how it can affect you and the others. Take, for example, stealing happens because there is something important to steal and if we try to hide those things that are tempting thieves to steal, then there'll be no crime under the presumption that there is nothing to steal. In layman's terms, you don't drop something over trivial matters.

In a way it might be better to be able to block comments for 1-2 chapters. Though, it might also just be a non-solution to the problem, as instead of commenting on chapter 100, people would comment on chapter 99 or 101.
It will alleviate, but will not affect the whole problem on a much larger scale. But I beg to differ, when you block someone, their comments don't disappear, so in a way, it's best to report them and let the moderators handle them for the best. In any case, if the moderator doesn't stay true to their title, then we'll have to ignore them.

Responding to a fool who's foolishly trash-talking you makes you none other than a fool!

Now I am interested to meet this old man so that I can get slapped by his $100 bills.

Bruh it's real shit show going on, there. Amen :blob_facepalm:(I just checked)

People pulling out tiniest of detail, then talk irrelevant stuff about it, then getting mad over because some other guy did the same thing, just to counter argue them. LMAO

People just have too much time.:blob_popcorn:
