Do you ever ever feel lazy about the words you write? For example, I use "thus" at the start of some sentences. Mainly, to express that it was a consequence of what was discussed in the last sentence. This feels lazy to me as Google docs and grammarly do not want me to use "thus." They keep changing it to "this" or say it's not a word. Some people have told me I should use the word "because" or the statement "as a result" in it's place but it doesn't feel the same when reading it. Here are some examples.

"You're the pride of the kingdom. As a result, you need to act responsibly."

"Because you're the pride of the kingdom you need to act responsibly."

"You're the pride of the kingdom. This, you need to act responsibly."

Are there any words you are particular or lazy about due to personal preference or how you were taught? Do you think this is lazy of me? Is it bad for Google doc and grammarly to not believe that "thus" is a word? Yes, I know I can add words to their dictionary. I already have but it still happens.

I am confused, in what way does the regional differences in the development of language translate to "laziness", :blob_hmm_two: :blob_cookie:

I'd say it's not being lazy, but being tired of conveying something obvious using more and longer words. "Thus" is short, and sentences you make using it are simple, so it's easy to use it and it's often frustrating when you're told you shouldn't use it when you are perfectly aware what it means.

I often use "And" at the beginning of sentences, despite the fact that most people and dictionaries would say it's bad. It sounds good to me because that's how I often think, and I don't feel the need to make a sentence four words longer just for it to be more correct.

Yup, yup. I feel that "ain't" is one of the best examples of that.

Laziness in the sense that I don't want to change it. I don't think it's a regional difference though as thus is a commonly used word of the English language. It's why I was winding if it was bad that Google docs and grammarly weren't accepting it.

Ain't is a great example of a regional difference but thus isn't a word formed by regional differences. It's a real English word that is commonly used in English literature but mainly university papers.
I give it ~12 years before "tho" is grammatically correct, :blob_cookie:
Still waiting for thick to be officially changed to thicc

Here, we have yet another example that shows us that Paul is either an eldritch being, THUS he doesn't know how normal people behave. OR he was brought up by a herd of dominant, sigma gachi-wrestlers that eat an equivalent of 10-17.5 alpha males a day, procreate via striking a bodybuilding pose, and stay hydrated for eternity without drinking a single gulp their entire lives.

Paul, you know what is laziness? Let me explain how a normal human being behaves lazily, using myself as an example.

Let's say I am editing and notice a sentence that needs a rewrite. I should change 1-2 words to make that sentence much better. But instead of rewriting it, I wave my hand and say to myself, "Fuck it, they are going to read it anyway." I DON'T rewrite the sentence, leave it as it is, and then post the chapter. This is laziness.

Well, I tend to use the word 'very' very much... duh
So I came across this site, LoseTheVery

It will help you replace the word 'very' with a better alternative.
For eg: Tina was 'very hungry'- site will give you words like 'starving' 'famished', 'ravenous' etc.

It's kind of useful, and hope everyone can make good use.

My first drafts are very bare-bones, thus I get mad at my past self when it's time to edit.

Thus, therefore, henceforth...
They are useful words, don't hold back on using them.
