To all readers on the forums, there are many story tropes and character traits shown and generalized throughout other stories of CN, JP, KR, and etc.

So list out the "worst" things or any horribly generalized "truths" or themes, you have ever encountered while reading/watching/listening to several stories which has similar genres / settings and are created from other countries like CN, JP, KR, US, etc.?

Explain why those things can make a character or the story so shitty by common, and moral + ethical logics.

Some of those "worst" things does not have to be found in just characters, tropes, but also in the ideas that consistently generalized by the story's author as acceptable truths in their country's society.

Also anything in the story that are frequently used for comedy effects or generalized for dramas, but you won't find it funny, romantic, or cool at all.
Sometimes, especially in CN, they always make darker skin characters as dirty and hillybills and fair skinned people as embodiment of purity, and whatnot. Its gotten so infuriating just seeing how they class dark skin as below someone.,

According to a relative's explanation, the skin color has some correlation to the character's economic status and other domestic status.
Darker skin due to Sun Tan = Peasant's Lifestyle = Poor
Darker skin due to Poisoning = Meridian Clogged / etc.
Darker skin = ugly = evil characters or pitiful cannon fodders
Lighter skin due to Staying Indoor = Noble Lifestyle = Rich
Lighter skin due to Antidote / Bone Cleansing Pill = Healthier & Purer Spiritual Form achieved, Skill unlocked
Lighter skin = pretty = good characters or support side characters

It's not just the CN, even JP sometimes play this theme for examples: I’m Not a Villainess!! Just Because I Can Control Darkness Doesn’t Mean I’m a Bad Person! ; Inverse Scale Dragon , etc.

I don't like it either. I haven't seen enough KR that would mention this concept often in their stories.

But rather than Racism where a character's specific race, ethnicity, and or religion have been mentioned, this negative concept is more about Lookism. All judgement on appearances. Society is judgmentally savage.

It's like going to a lemonade stand, getting delicious lemonade, and finding an invitation to a Klan meeting on the back of your receipt.
Holy shit, the mental image of that is hilarious!

But are there really that many stories that outright do such a thing? If so, is it the limited ethnic and cultural diversity in a lot of those countries that spawn such plotlines? I've heard that Korea can be really racist to black people in general, and that even universities urge people of color not to go there when studying abroad. Seriously, as someone from the US, I can't imagine anyone other than a little kid who doesn't know any better or an actual nutjob writing something like that.

You'll usually find more nationalism than racism, which is off-putting enough on it's own (read the later Mark Greany books if you want an American example) but the overt racism is there often enough to remind you that our rent free presence in some peoples' heads is strong enough to bleed into their power fantasies.

It's usually softer in countries where that sort of stuff doesn't fly. It'll be limited to sterotypes in most cases. For blacks specifically: the women are sexually forward, the men are buff and/or "cool thugs" but dumb and impulsive. Both can be portrayed as wild, barbaric, or exotic.

I don't care too much about stereotypical archetypes though. It's still dumb, but these characters will grow beyond their archetypes if the writer is halfway competent. Having a black child bite their fingers eating chocolate, however, is the kind of dumb that tests my faith. Like, c'mon that's not even funny.

The problem is distinguishing between text that does it out of malice and text that does it out of ignorance. Heck, sometimes it's a bit of both.

Thanks for the reply, I definitely found it insightful! Speaking of black characters, I planned to have one as the protagonist of my next/second next book. The only potential "stereotype" that applies to him is that he is a teenager who had a bad home life (though I don't see how that's a stereotype that applies to black people specifically). Because of this, he's cautious, slow to trust, and quick to run away from physically harmful situations. But this is all from his background, and not anything about his race. And throughout the story, he grows to be more trusting and confident in himself.
Hopefully avoiding those really dumb stereotypes shouldn't be too hard.

America. Where we have Marvel. And DC. And like... yeah.
Snoopy comic is also a good example of that problem too.

Yea, America is a melting pot and a hotbed for troubles. Even if its citizens don't ask for it, it's their political representatives making the waves on news and all over the medias.

I just made that my signature for shits and giggles. While I know the U.S Political situation sucks a fat one, you gotta admit reading some Avengers comics or something is pretty rad

Yeah no, they are even worse than CN when it comes to their stories becoming a drag past 50 chps regardless of the genre.
Yup. Not to mention, they got Shipper folks on the sidelines. Sink a ship, they rages. Sail an ugly ship, they screams. Sell the pretty or cutey faces, the Shippers go nuts.

And for romance, there is always a pair of cheaters or a harem of scuts getting high. Oh no!
Can someone please tell me, why the Ex-people dramas are considered a favorite genre despite being so toxic?

Yeah nah. Gonna have to disagree. KR is where its at

And lol...anyone thinking ANYTHING is worse than CN in stories dragging....is not someone I will have much in common with opinion-wise. But to each their own.

For me it'd be the energetic character being character relief or butt of all jokes which is never funny
The heroes crush not doing jack shit but saying the support them always peeved me and somehow always getting in trouble and doesn't know how to shut their trap.
The thievery or bandit being the one to betray the MC's party coming as a surprise even though
Heroes having a worse drive than the villain, making your story where the hero has a simple ambition or none at is infuriating especially when we focus more on them than the Person that's actually more interesting.
Side characters that do nothing but just people say the creator had a diverse characters, if you're gonna have recurring characters give them a purpose.
Yandere character forcing themselves into a relationship with someone which is never fun to watch or read.
Making a villain sympathetic that'll just take away from their characterization is really annoying.
Forced just because two people are of opposite sex and the main characters.
The other characters treating the smart character like dirt just cause they have zero social skills.
Making revenge stories seem like a bad thing or evil without showing how it actually negatively affects the character
Bad people who we never see do bad things just heard from other characters in that they are monsters without seeing them doing anything horrifying.

I never understand the thing people say about yandere. I meant having a stalker of an opposite gender threatening to snuff life out of nearby people or stealing your junks to make foods is ...... cute? Or just plain misunderstood. Normal people would be terrified.
