So, I have a deity/world developer that I'm using as a tertiary antagonist. I want readers to like him, but also find him annoying (those of you with friends know the type I mean. He's annoying, but you can't help but like him at the same time).

What are some behaviors he could have?

I want him to be into geek culture from this world, as he's able to access and create items from our world, like TVs, internet, etc. He is able to watch shows, interact with people online, etc. But for obvious reason, he can't inform people, even accidentally, that he's a deity.

any ideas? I'm turning to you all as my usual idea/inspiration AI has been immensely unhelpful.

I would say find something that is moderately annoying and mention it every time the character is around. Does he talk with his hands a lot, does he chew gum loudly is he always making puns and innuendo.

In the case of consuming media, have him be the snob.
"Ugh, I hate how they changed this from the books."
"In the comics he can't do that..."
"Did you know this was actually a rip off of a German movie called..."

This way he isn't actually ruining anything or being actually harmful, just way too into it. But ya can't fault the guy for having a passion, just wish he would keep it to himself

Could be something like the joke gnomes from Dragonlance - they are reckless inventors who overexplain everything (very fast "soIjustconntectedthispistontothisgearand..." "SLOW DOWN" "Oh, I just connected this piston to this gear and now it should go very fast, or go boom. Win-win!" "OK, just stop talking...")

I have two characters I tried to do this with.
Marvin is a funny asshole type that has creative insults and a little bit of the "my way or the highway" mentality.
Braun is a douchebag frat boy type (not malicious) that gets in funny situations because he's a douchebag. You don't ever feel bad for him, but you're glad he's a character.

It takes some creativity and humor, and even then I bet you still might strikeout with a few readers. For your geek idea, make him troll people with spoilers or just stomping on anime tropes that just pisses people off.

Your character ideas are solid and have great comedic potential!
For Marvin: Lean into his creative insults and "my way or the highway" attitude to make his humor sharp and memorable. Have him win arguments in hilariously over-the-top ways.
For Braun: Use his frat-boy charm to land him in absurd predicaments where his own ego causes the chaos, keeping the humor lighthearted and relatable.
For the geek character, trolling with spoilers or breaking anime tropes is a clever angle—just make sure it’s playful enough to keep the humor fun rather than mean-spirited. Balancing humor and likability will resonate better with readers.
