They are making the same mistake like YouTube. Too many ads forces people to seek Adblockers.
Ads that are not interesting or close to user preference becomes an annoyance, hence seeking out more Adblockers.
They have two solutions, and neither are sought after.
Even buying their ads aren’t worth it.
1. Increased Adblockers.
2. Much slower impressions.
3. Toxic community.
4. Wasted impressions.
—> I believe now they do multiple ads on a page. Hence, splitting the author impressions, thus decreasing the chance of the author getting what they paid for.

On top of this, they’ve earned disrespect from both sides now. One, they’ve forgotten that without authors, there would be nothing to read, thus no readers.
Readers there are entitled to the point of too overbearing to deal with.
Readers just want to get to the story, and if ads are in the way of that, then they will seek out Adblockers. Trying to make them pay for premium isn’t gonna be that much effective.
I’ve seen countless authors leave over the years, and really only see the same handful on the forums.
New ones come, and are gone in a few months. They’ve got multiple issues to deal with, but refuse to deal with any of them.
