Just why?

I have been watching Kate Cavanaugh videos on YouTube, and she can get excited when she writes like 400 words per hour, and I am here like:

5k in 148 minutes? Why so little, why so slow?

Why am I doing this to myself? Why can't I be happy with what I have done so far? I used to be supper happy about writing, when I tackled my first serious novel. I sat my ass on the writing chair with a smile and the full intention to hallucinate for the next couple of hours. Not only that, but I didn't even need breaks.

I want to go back to being like that, but I don't know how.

Rant over.

You can't. You simply just can't.

However, you can take a rest. Get your mind off writing, and do something else. Everything that is excessive is bad.

How long of a rest do you think I should take?

I think you need to stop putting pressure on yourself. Maybe take a break to reset your thinking and really think about what writing means for you.

You’re wanting more and more.. it will be an endless cycle. Sometimes it’s okay to take a deep breath and let go for just a while.

But obviously I don’t know you so I don’t know how this applies…

But all the best to you.

Thanks, you too. Merry Christmas!

Two weeks minimum maybe.. but take your mind off writing completely. Find something else to do. New experiences inspire an author. That’s just in my humble opinion

Merry Christmas ?
Isn't two weeks a bit much?

As long as your mind isn't off writing and focused on something else.

See? I love drawing. And when I'm in the middle of a drawing burst, I can put up lots of drawings within a day (just like what happened last June-August timeframe--the SHF Lores).

However, at the end, I burned out and I needed a break. Good thing my job application was accepted and I was able to put my focus on something else.

So now, December, I'm drawing lewds.

But yeah, it did take me a while, even when I love what I do.

I like to think I write a lot, but I'm not hung up on numbers and I think that's unhealthy imo. I just like to see progress, and as long as chapters come moving the story along, it's a win, whether it's 2k or 10k words...

So long as I'm not editing as I go and I've a good idea what ai want to write, I can easily do a couple thousand words in an hour. 400 is weirdly little to me to be so happy about it, but that's very dependent on the person. I don't really get happy when I write a lot, I'm satisfied when I finish a scene.
