I thought it was a great horror movie, a breath of fresh air. Feels like one of those movies that's gonna linger in my mind for a long time.

Some things I noticed-
I believe the second ghost that mia sees, the bloated drowned ghost was the one who pretended to be her mother the whole time as you hear the bubbles and water noises everytime her mother appears, not to mention the decaying and bloatedness that happens to her over time.

I also think it's the drowned ghost who riley sees and not mia's mother considering his shocked appearance, if it was mia's mother then he would have said so the likelihood of it being the drowned ghost he sees is high. There's also the fact that the ghost who possesses riley knows so much about mia and mia's mother and the only ghosts who could have known that was mia's mother or the drowned ghost who had already possessed her before.

Also when mia is about to push riley into traffic, the mother spirit[drowned ghost] accidentaly gives her facade away when she says "We'll have him forever" and realizing the spirit's true intentions, mia let's go at the last moment.

Riley's sister jade unfortunately didn't know that mia had regained some clarity and in a desperate attempt to saver her brother pushed mia into the traffic killing her.

In the spirit realm mia sees how time passed so quickly, as months pass in mere moments from riley getting better to leving the hospital with his family and a real heartwrenching moment is when mia sees her father.

She calls out to him but he doesn't hear. He enters the elevator. Here's the thing, he didn't exit the hospital with riley's family, instead he went to the elevator nd why is that?

I think he died and the elevator is some kind of metaphor for ascending to heaven or something and the reason why he didn't see or hear his daughter is because they're in different realms, his daughter mia is in limbo and he's moving onwards to somewhere else, seeing his daughter or hearing her would probably trap him in limbo too so he's protected in a way, probably a failsafe in the spirit world.

Anyway, great movie 9/10 definitely.

I watched it too, it wasn't anything great for me because like a lot of newer horror movies it takes the approach of trying to make a good movie instead of a good "horror" movie. The only part that was semi scary was the bit where the corner shadow morphs into a person. That tends to always get me because of how real it feels.

As for the metaphorical stuff, I don't know the film kind of tries out a lot but underperforms overall on each regard. We don't get any answers so the whole point feels more like an excuse for the writer to be like "it's whatever you interpret". Rather than actually giving some harder rules or understandings that older horror films would employ along with consistency. Is the hand supposed to be a metaphor for drug use and then addiction? Are the ghosts really from limbo or are they all in hell? Is the afterlife the same for everyone? What does it mean to die while they're in control?

Much like Smile the film feels like something that could've been written with the intentions of making a sequel or at least having enough ambiguity to have ongoing discussions. However, I have to admit that new movies just aren't as subtle about this pondering scheme as older films were. I'm not trying to be elitist but "The thing" and "the exorcist" still remain as memorable classics because they have a lot to dissect in them whereas Talk to me feels like it doesn't have much to say after you've seen the surface level. Sort of embodies the quote "Mile wide, inch deep".

I am sure it is far better than the Nun 2. That movie was a joke.
I feel this way about every movie in the Conjuring universe after Conjuring 1 and 2 those were still what I'd consider, good, the first spin off "Anabelle" is pretty much the start of the decline for me.

I give it a B-.

Good movie, had plenty of the flavor I'd look for if I was a horror fanatic, but as a person who just likes a good movie it didn't do it for me at times. The solution to everything was too easy and the plot armor was so in your face that I rolled my eyes multiple times throughout the duration.

The best horror movie I've ever seen is Scary movie 1, why was it scary? When it is a parody meant to be funny? Cause I WATCHED IT MY FAMILY! IN ROOM! IMAGINE WATCHING PORN INFRONT OF FAMILY! I DIDN'T KNOW IT WAS SEXUAL! Alas that aside, the best movie is The ring A+
