You can be an idiot in school, just don’t be an idiot in life. Be clever, think practical, read the mood, and employers will love you.

Goddamn, I hate it when I teach stuff and the newbies can’t pick up but still keep this baseless confidence.

As others said, just because you’re good in school doesn’t mean you can do every job. Practical experience is worth much more. Grades may matter to you now, but later it’s just a piece of paper.

Man I also hated school and high school, i always had terrible grades but barely managed to pass through the years until i had to repeat one, felt ashamed, but quickyl realized it wasnt so bad at the end, i made new friends and ended ending high shool quite well anyways, although my grades were always mediocre. You'll get past it man, the real trouble is actually finding a job later lol

Says someone who puts up with arrogant brats to get more of them
When supply is sparse and demand is high, you gotta work with what you get ?

Don’t worry, you’ll be even more depressed when you realize your grades don’t matter at all and the connections you made or should have made in university were what really mattered in getting a decent job.
Yes. Yes. Yes a million times, yes. I can't count the number of times I've outright called someone a naive fool right to their faces when they tried to tell me "It's about what you know." That is such a goddamn lie. I helped tutor this guy in a specific class, he was passing by barely with a C-. I had a A- only because I had a few missing assignments that I had yet to turn in. Long story short, I got him up to a A- like me while I passed with an A- also because I couldn't be bothered to do the missing assignments since I was only going to get half credit for them anyway.

Long story short, we applied for the same job unknowingly. I had the better portfolio by leagues, but he got hired over me because his dad was best friends with the employer when THEY were in uni. And this isn't the only example I have, and I have plenty of other examples based on friends and acquaintances experiences.

It is NOT about what you know. Stop that goddamn lie. You can be the biggest imbecile in class, but if you know someone who knows someone, YOU WILL get that job regardless of your lack of skill and knowledge.

actually, you should try to hire a tutor to help you in any subjects you need help in. It always helps to ask a teacher or professor to explain a concept to you if you don’t get it.

What should I do now? T.T)

Grades are irrelevant. You shouldn't be spending your spring time of youth worrying about them only to regret it later when you grow older.

Do you have friends? Enjoy your school days and have fun with them. They might help you be a better person, too. Finding friends and future connections in high places are more important in real-life than good grades.

wake up early in the morning
go for a morning walk
come back make a list of all chapters
and then just pick any chapter you find interesting and start studying until you get through all the chapters ticked
how much time you take depends on you
better said until you feel satisfied by the chapter itself

Most of this thread so far seems to amount to "grades don't matter." And to an extent, they are absolutely correct. However, if you're getting low grades, you need to evaluate your situation. What is the cause of your grades? Do you genuinely suck at a subject, are too lazy to go to class and submit homework, or lack motivation.

The grade itself isn't necessarily what you need to fix, but the cause might need to be addressed. If you can't find motivation for school, make sure you can find motivation for productivity. Be it getting a job, internship, or something for experience or building connections. Because while you can compensate for low grades, low grades don't make you look better. There are just many things that can matter more than grades.

Other things to address may be finding the optimal way to learn so you can gain skills quickly when needed. Take this as an opportunity to find the root cause and deal with it before it spreads to other more important things.

I'd also like to point out that the cases people have against high G.P.A students is purely anecdotal. Just because one 4.0 gremlin has no marketable life skills doesn't mean a 4.0 is dangerous to your brain or something. Granted I am somewhat biased as I am somewhat a part of that group.

Anyways, I have to figure out how to pass a midterm with 3 hours of studying.

As others said, connections matter more than anything else. I wouldn't fully say grades don't matter, cause generally the better grades you have, the better university you can get into, and the better connections you can make. But unless you are pretty much in the top 10 of a high rated university, the importance of grades are marginal at best.

My biggest regret when I went to university was not knowing this and just keeping to myself cause I was busy with work.

Change your strategies towards school. Get more sleep so you can concentrate during school and retain more information. Google other ways to do better in school. If you think you might have a learning disability, have a chat with your school counselor.

I don’t know if this would make you feel a little bit better about your situation, but I graduated highschool with pretty average score. I ended up getting accepted to one of the top universities in China, and the world, main downside is I had to learn chinese and study in chinese, I’m already in my fourth year and supposed to be graduating, but I still have some classes I didn’t pass, which means graduation needs to be postponed, all the while I’m thinking to transfer elswhere to finish those subjects in english. But hey, at least we still alive and kicking ?
flexing moment :)
Anyway, my depression died down, thank you.

Want an easy life in school, then pay attention in class and stop doing homework at home, but instead do them before each class in the breaks. This will increase your anxiety levels but also your mind will have no choice but to adapt to the harsh circumstances, and increasing your memorization skills from listening and writing shit down in class all the while it becomes autopilot when you do the homework.

Its alright. Most probably have got burned out by school at one point or another. Myself included. Stop, and breathe. The important part is to not keep lingering on why it happened and the thought of being a failure, start thinking how to get out of the mess. Focusing on mistakes too much hurts us negatively, but focus on finding the next step, a possible solution/alternatives or improvements, etc. can help give hope or at least be on a path to trying make it better.

Look around for tutors. Search online for materials to help supplement the confusing class teachings. Find what's the best method you can absorb the subject/concepts. If you've trouble learning is it because method of teaching? learning disabilities? Other? Figure out that part. And get a therapist if you have depression - or talk to friends or get one hobby to help relieve your mind off stress once in awhile.

Grades are maybe important if one has no experience or connections, or needs to get into a certain school/graduate. But after? They don't matter so much. Being able to learn off the textbook or outside a school setting is essential. I'm always reminded of an old idiom in my dialect, something about reading a dead book.
