We arguing about GENDER BENDER?
Of all the things plaguing art and writing, we are here arguing about... gender bender?

Overseers in the deep globalist state be trying to make us like ugly things and here we are... about Gender Bender being ruined... My goodness.

Ok, it's time to do a coming out since I can't keep up with it. I'm trolling you all. Most of what I've said I don't believe in. Reply about GB popularity on SH isn't a trolling, nor is it a guess, it's a fact. The part of my reply where I say you can do whatever with GB is also what I believe in. The rest is just bullshit.

I do think you can, and I think you should critisize art. I wish I could keep up with my act for a longer time, but I just can't.

Thank you... I was so lost thinking of how to explain the benefits of criticism. I also agree that GB can be used in anything, I just think it isn't worth using. Why bring in elements of GB when all it is for it to have a female protagonist? It allows for a lot more than what it is used for and I find it disappointing when treated so poorly.

The reason is because men are better women than women are. Lots of awards in recent years prove this.
This is why people can't get behind Mary Sue.

The main goal in fiction should be to entertain. If you're not doing that first, you're already losing.

Sure, you can inform, but entertainment is the most important thing. It's why they're reading fiction and not non fiction. If your informing comes at the risk of the story, don't bother. Nobody wants a hall monitor talking down to them when they read fiction, unless they already agree with you.

I agree with you, and Isekai has the same problem. At the same time, I will be a devil's advocate one last time, hopefully it is the last one. I don't believe in it personally, and I don't think this is a valid reason. However, if I were to try and defend this approach, I would say, they do use it, just not in the way you expect it to be used. Again, I don't think this is the right thing to do.

If we were to talk about Isekais that I am more comfortable with critisizing, shoving a modern person into a fantasy world and forgetting about it in a few chapters is a lazy move that you simply don't need. At the same time, I can't say this modern person doesn't use his or her knowledge at all. There is some, minimal merit to it, a single thought behind using an isekai. It's just not something I agree with or think as a good enough justification of using the tag\genre\trope.

Same with GB I think. Although you might dismiss certain things as not worthy of using the genre, technically you can still use it.

But again, I don't agree you should use it that way. You can, but there is no reason to do it.
