Is anyone else using Scrivener to write their stories?

I’ve been using Scrivener for a bit shy of three months, but I haven’t really gotten to explore all of the features it provides fully yet. I know there are tools that seem especially useful for organization, such as sections for characters and maps to keep track of things, but that’s about as far as I’ve gone on the feature side of things. Right now, I've been using it to organize the different chapters and arcs, which I found really useful.

Are there any other features people find helpful, maybe more niche features, that I might be overlooking? It was a bit on the pricey side, so I’d love to make full use of what it offers so I can feel that it was worth the purchase.

Thank you in advance.

Later on you might value the revision mode and ability to export to epub or as a manuscript for publishing, if those sound useful to you. Also has things like a name generator and the ability to highlight dialogue.

I generally write on Grammarly. It autosaves everything in case of a power failure. So, I don't lose my work.

Honestly, with how often I’ve had to fix formatting issues after finishing a chapter, it probably would’ve been better for me to stick with Google Docs. I really wish I had known about the name generator earlier, but I can definitely try to use it going forward.

I do really like the export options it provides, and I’ve heard good things about the revision mode, which I want to try out, along with Typewriter mode that another author mentioned. MS Word tends to give me issues, so I usually stay away from it.

I tend to do my first draft in Visual Studio Code (yeah I'm weird) and the bring it to Scrivener for polish.

I am not, but it is VERY popular on Substack. In fact, the first post I ever saw there was an author offering a trial period key (and admitting he got a very small cut for everyone who used the trial period from his key and subscribed) for it. Even had four other authors encourage me to either use the sample key or just buy it outright.

I just started using scrivener. I'm still figuring out all the quirks, but it feels like a good program and I think once I get used to it I'll use it more.

If you're familiar with evernote, I recommend obsidian. You can even transfer every note
