does it really need papers? it'd be a waste of actual paper. if there's a more economic source, why don't we use it? it's one reason why i hate these kinds of questions. do they even think practically instead of hypothetically?

just use an image editor and put the individual squares in separate layer. you can use 'multiply' blending to achieve similar effect.

no matter how many layers it used, the amount of paper you need is zero.
