I think I will continue to post these lists for one week (until 31 Jul 2025) and call that good.
At this point the proof is already pretty conclusive; of 110 new series in that last 3 days, only 17.2% were at the top of the list.
Of those that were not, 27 series were unfairly denied a chance to be shown on the "Latest Updates" section on the main page.
I say unfairly, but for the rest, it really would be the luck of the draw. There is only nine spots on the main page; if there is more than that in a release batch someone will lose out. That isn't fair or unfair, it just is.

One thing I always thought of:

- You can upload a novel without adding a chapter. I don't know if that means anything, though.
- Also, I don't know if time zones have any effect on it, but they should not.
- Lastly, I don't know how the latest list is determined. Meaning, this is speculation on my end, but I think the last novel being approved is the first on the list, while the first one they got approved immediately slips to the last pages, pushed off by the others. I don't know if I can explain it properly, but this is just an idea I was having and experiencing when uploading a new book.

It could also be that they are going on when the approval request was made, and not on when the approval happened.

There seems to be multiple things going on. For some reason, the first story that does not appear in the expected place sequence is consistently the 15th entry, but why?

I don't see any pattern based on genres, nor any pattern with content warnings.

Someone previously proposed that it might have something to do with scheduling the first chapter, but if that were the case I would expect series to pop up at random times. They don't; it is always in approval batches.

So yeah, something is wrong and I can't tell what.

So, this isn't actually an error with them being out of sequence. This is the order in which the story's pages were made, rather than when the first chapter was approved and they were given their publish date. You created the page first, then you put in a chapter to be approved. Simply put, the story was already in the latest releases, but was waiting to be approved from the moment you made the page itself, rather than the chapter, thus it was invisible to everyone but still there.

I have a way to check that, and it doesn't seem to be the case.
Every story and chapter ever created (even ones never published) on Scribblehub has a serial number; these serial numbers are used for tracking them in the database and can be found in the URL.
If it were in the sequence that series were made, then I would expect it to always count count either up or down in one of the columns below, but not alternate.

As a sample:

Was there anything found out? My newest story that I just published today suffered this fate. After I posted my first chapter it got accepted pretty quick, but for some reason I was already 15th or 16th in latest stories? How in the world, I was never even on the front page. https://www.scribblehub.com/series/1867453/house-of-valen/ Is there even a way to fix this? I already sent an e-mail, but I kind of doubt anything will be done. All of my stories I've put on on here always did well on the first day or two because of the front page for new series. I'm wondering if I should just delete and reupload, I dunno what to do. So frustrating...
