yeah, I see people from royal road come here and post their long ongoing rr novels recently a lot. Granted, I'm part of that immigration, too.
Huh? What are you talking about? That was happening from pretty much day 1 over here. (Believe me, I actually AM one of the original Scribble Hub members, back from before it went down hill and became SmutHub.) Maybe there's a 2nd wave or something now? I haven't really noticed the difference from the same amount of ScribbleHub original content though.

Believe me, the % of Scribble hub original to Royal Road migration is a LOT higher right now than it was back when this site first went up. When this site was first up, almost 90% of the stories were from RR. I would say right now it's closer to 50/50.

Ah yes, SmutHub. I still snort and giggle when people try to defend SmutHub at the same time as they try and insist it doesn't exist. And what I mean by insisting it doesn't exist is that they will say that ScribbleHub isn't actually more or less dominated by the smut writers. Of course it is. Yet, this kind of outcome was easy to predict. Though I don't know about webnovel. I know of 6 other online novel sites like SH and SH is the ONLY one out of a total of 7 sites I'm aware of that allows smut-content in the way that it exists here. Just by that alone, it shouldn't be so surprising that SH's presence is dominated by smut-content.

It's like being surprised and scandalized at seeing naked folks on a nudist beach.

Smut has a way of exploiting the algorithm by exploiting human behavior. Titles that make it very clear that this series is smut will just naturally have an advantage and appear on the 1st page more easily, this encourages more writers to write smut.

I get the impression Tony noticed this and has been trying to take some measures against it, mainly by the fact we're seeing a bit less of that these days. It really was all over the place a while ago though.

There was also the era of the Wifu cover arts. That was another cheap psychological exploit people were getting on the front page with. People would just click on series that had a cute anime girl on their cover art, and that would up it in the algorithm.

I don't know how Tony's countering the smut, but I would imagine the wifu cover arts were a pretty easy problem to solve. All you have to do is favor reader retention and chapter reads and down-rate simple clicks for the info page.

propely too late but the title for the post is kind of confusing and it should be reworded to "influx of novels from webnovel" to make it more clear
