No worries, I was planning to include the chess games in it. I need to first expand my world building, explaining various things about chess for the beginners, main characters, political situations, etc...

The chess games will include the moves and thoughts of the main characters and the opponents.

Re-read your novel and try to pick apart every single thing that turns you off. If you can't find anything, read a good novel on Royal Road and compare it to yours. If you still can't find anything wrong, I still won't give any more help.
