kk. I'm new to this platform and I plan on posting some novels here. Is there any general advice that would you like to give for me? Or any other new author?

I have a pretty consistent daily quota of 1.5k or so words a day, but I would be capable of increasing that daily quota the more I get adjusted to writing again.

In particular, I am just most interested in learning how to create and retain an active community on this site. Since it's easier to get going when you have friends. And there's the Scribblehub discord but it's just way too big and honestly, it's a little frightening since you guys are pervs~

Hi! I'm also new here, or "we are" since I share this account with my gf. I would recommend having a schedule, like posting 1 chap a week or something, or doing polls to interact with the ppl reading your novel! Also like what otonoshi said, TAKE BREAKS FROM WRITING!! 1.5k words is already a lot ngl-

And we could be friends if you want!! I'm Saffron, you can call me Saf though, I also need friends on scribble hub or on any writing sites...( ´;゚;∀;゚;)

Safana is mine and my gf's combined name. The "Saf" stands for Saffron, but you can call me Saf though!! ((o(^∇^)o))

Safana can be interpreted as a ship name ngl- ( 〃▽〃)

Just be conscious about burnout. Yes you can write 1.5k words a day. But do you think you can do that for the entre duration of your story Whilst also having a life?

:meowsip:

Welcome! Some general advice:

Don't mass upload chapters at once, even if you have many chapters in stock. This is because you get to stay in the Lastest Update tab longer with each chapter upload to gain more exposure.

Scribble Hub doesn't permit certain things, such as images that show completely nude characters. If you see something inappropriate, there is a report button.

There is also an ignore button to block anyone who is trolling or harrassing you.

There is also an option to Follow the authors or readers you like.

Recently, there was a sudden influx of scammer artist bots. If you come across them, do not engage, just report and ignore the bots.

Certain genres (and tags) perfom well compared to the other genres on Scribbly. As you might have seen, smut stories are kind of popular here for some reason.

Check out the Trending tab to see how those authors write, or design their covers, or write their synopsis etc. I'm not saying you need to copy them, but you can use them for simple comparison with your own stories, I guess.

it's a little frightening since you guys are pervs~
:blob_frown:

I don't know about the Discord side of the Scribble Hub, but most Scribbly users here are friendly. Sometimes there are fights and arguments in the Forums, but that's definitely how people bond with eachother. :blob_happy:

1.5k words per day is already very good. Don't think about adding more, as you'll just experience writer's block. Honestly, maintaining a story with weekly updates is more difficult than releasing multiple chapters at once.

Do consistent chapter posts. Not large ones just one a day or every two days. When you get a following you can extend that longer as you have a large regular fanbase to read it, recommend it, and rate it which makes it pop up higher on tag leaderboards which makes more people see and so on and so forth.

Consistency is king. If you're a novel that regularly pops up in the latest updates feed then more people will see it and again more begets more. Give gentle reminders at the end of your chapters so that you're readers favorite chapters and write reviews of your story. Most people don't maybe less than 10% but the ones that do will be the passionate ones.

Be very careful about burnout a lot of authors here fall prey to it and its a good idea to give yourself a buffer when writing your story so that you can take breaks without breaking schedule and giving yourself time for r&r. Most of all make sure you're writing for you not just for your fans otherwise you will bleed yourself dry to please the masses.

Wish you the best. Have fun writing.

Not all users are like that. You can choose to interact with them those you think are good for you.

Consistency is really important. I would advise planning out regular update days with a consistent time and sticking to them, rather than just adding to the story whenever you feel like it. Uploading in bursts then disappearing for a while makes people confused and wonder when the next update will be. People can start to build habits around your upload schedule and might be disappointed if they can't always read a new chapter before work or bed, for instance.

One thing to not do is advertise your Patreon too much. Putting them on your author's notes on your every chapter is already a bit much for me, since you can just put that Patreon box under your chapter, and advertising it when you reply your reader's comments will make them feel a bit "yo what the heck is this" (maybe yes maybe not, but that's what I felt)

Make sure to interact with the readers every few chapters. Daily feels overbearing. Don't shift the tone of the novel halfway through. Post semi regularly on the forums and you can get an easy 10-15 newbies to latch on. By having it in your signature of course.

Install Grammarly.

Changed my life as a writer. Even when I don't agree with it.

Seriously, Grammarly would make an enormous difference for about 90% of the writers on this site. And it's free.

Hi! My name is Sylver, love the red hair! :blob_aww:

Some advice?
- Be sure to have a small road map for your novels.
- Don't be shy, take breaks when needed. You'll reach writers block eventually, it happens to the best of us!
- Commute and make some friends with other authors, always helpful to receive their advice and thoughts on their writing process.
- Read novels that are a similar genre or premise that you're aiming for, bonus points if they are well received. Take notes, you can learn on what the readers like.
- Most importantly, have fun telling the story you want to tell, not a story you feel obligated to write. When a hobby becomes a chore, it's time for a vacation!

Hope to see you around :blob_cookie: send me a DM if you'd like, i don't know many users here but it's overall a friendly place here.

Hello, i'm also new here!
SH is a friendly place, but one thing to note: don't be so hard on yourself when you see your work did not get any comments or ratings. ppl rarely leave them here, unlike on RR.
And make sure to make more friends!

This, SH is pretty much full of lurkers so don't get discouraged.

Ok so discord is more pervy then here got it :blob_salute: lol, but seriously for the community bit you can use messages on your profile page in SH not the forum to sort of set a community there for your readers. (you can see how your messaging page looks like at the bottom image if you don't know)
Sorry I've been listening to music (also don't mind me I was just messing around with the colors before)

By the way if your readers decide to follow you they can be alerted to what you write on your profile page messages if their alert preference allows it(although if your readers don't follow you they'll just have to manually to go your profile page and check messages to see what is happening). Oh and it can also be seen in the lounge to by everyone at the lounge at that moment which is like a mini forum hub. (you can see how the lounge looks at the bottom image too)

However after saying this I would like to reiterate that most readers here(as in SH) are lurkers so don't expect to much activity unless you cultivate it yourself. SOOOOOOO GOOD LUCK! ദ്ദി ˉ͈̀꒳ˉ͈́ )✧

For examples on where to go if you're lost on what I'm saying:
