If you were to make a commentary of your novel, where would you put it?

I've had the idea to make an ongoing commentary of my works as to share and discuss different topics and inspirations. Especially things the average reader would probably not know about (one early example being the concept of mythopoeic thought). It wouldn't be necessary to understand the main story, just a fun extra.

The question is, where would you put such a thing? I don't want anything as blunt as shoving in new commentary chapters into the main body of work, but I do want it to be conveniently accessible to readers somehow.

I made a facebook page. Well, actually, I appropriated the page for the TTRPG that I had been working on based on the setting, on the premise that working on the story that had provided the setting was working on the game itself. But close enough.

However, there is a point of concern: spoilers. There may well be some things that readers should not see, or should not see until after they've finished the story. In my case, commentary on things like why Niria's eyes are violet instead of some more natural color would completely ruin much of what my story is working so hard to accomplish. Imagine that: just knowing how and why someone has a peculiar eye color can take something away from a reader that they'll never be able to get back (spoilers being what they are). For me, this isn't a problem because there's really no interaction between the two people who actually follow the page (functionally, it's more of a work/note space) and Scribble Hub or Royal Road. And anyway, an author must confide in *someone* sooner or later. But commentary should be provided with caution, lest the author reveal more than it is well to let slip.

As I said, I used Facebook. However, I suspect the intent was to post the commentary HERE. In that case, why not start a new series and call it "[Story Title]: The Commentaries?"

The glossary would be perfect for it. You might have to specifiy in one of your chapters with A/N that it is there though as most people don't check out glossaries afaik.

Key component of 'Commentary' -> 'Comment'.

So I would put it in the comments. In pieces. As replies.

Replies directly to reader comments on some specific piece of content in that chapter of the story. Which I would immediately consider sufficient signs of interest to tell them something else I might have to say about that piece of content if I wanted to.

If I really really needed to get something off my chest about my story unsolicited I'd take it to the forum somewhere as a stand alone thing.

Also, as for using the glossary as a commentary? Controversial opinion. Actual Glossary > Commentary.

Depending on the depths of the comments, either in Author's notes, actual comments, or an outside WIKI.

All on my Twitter account, where I also put the metric tons of bonus art I crap out on a regular basis.
Spoilers are a tricky thing. On the public account, I spoil up to the latest SH update or else be very very vague if I border on dangerous territory. I have another priv where I rant about spoilery stuff to my 4 friends who finished the manuscript (which I shared with them in its entirety). These are the people keeping me sane tbh.

Either a dedicated page, a wiki, or something like a tumblr or blog. Maybe another social media site, but I recommend using something with a tagging system so you can keep track. If you end up running a Patreon, this is the kind of thing that would be ideal for updates.
