If you like an author's latest work, would you read the author's previous work?

I disliked Tokyo ghoul and dropped it about halfway through the first part. Then I read choujin x, and it was so good that I went back and finished Tokyo ghoul and :re. Still didn't like the first part, but I loved :re. I also read from star strings after watching made in abyss, and a lot of things by tatsuki fujimoto after I caught up to the chainsaw man manga. So I do it sometimes. It can be fun.
