If series includes [Suicide] tag, what are the specific guidelines? (see updated post below))

Simple Q/A, and not even sure what the final result will be, but it's something I should know. Simply asked, is that mature/content button toggle a requirement if this tag is included anywhere in the story?

the content warning has only "Gore", "Strong language" and "Sexual Content" so, so if the reason behind the suicide doesn't include these three, I don't think it's needed, or a simple "Mature" tag might work... though even i am getting a little confused while replying...

I think people browsing stories that may be triggered by those themes are more likely to check the Mature Warnings that the tags. It never hurts to be 'too careful'.

Sounds like the right answer is, button off, include both mature tag and initial trigger warning to it. But as Melcomely says, am uncertain which setting will be used...

I THINK Content Warning is a courtesy thing that you would put on the specific chapter where the event occurs (unless you're doing your own version of 13 Reasons Why, then it would go on the whole story, since a suicide IS the story). But I don't think there's any hard and fast rules about ... well, much of the tags/warnings/etc. really

Pretty much; there are definitions for every genre and some of the tags, but they are hard to find and are rarely followed exactly.

So my story never depicts an act of suicide on page, but it's a subject that comes up and it deals with ghosts who often died from suicide. Not the only factor, but I felt it appropriate to turn on the filter. Especially given that suicide is tragically a very real phenomenon many have some level of exposure to. And I say that as someone who often finds trigger warning discourse to be... tedious.

I also included this at the start of my first chapter:

"Content Warning: Please be aware this story is intended for adults and contains: Alcohol Use, Graphic Violence, Loss of Bodily Control, Sexual Themes, Strong Language, Suicide Subject-Matter, in-character and sometimes irreverent references to real-world atrocities. The Gestalt Archives will not depict non-consensual sexual content or acts of suicide on page."

I oppose censorship, but I promote informed disclosure and consent.

I agree. Makes sense to point where it is. It's only one, maybe 2 chapters, and it's not a final choice yet either.

*Update*

I will probably turn the toggle on as well, after developing the plot enough to come to a true and fitting decision.

However, I find myself with another perplexing question. I understand what it means, to ensure that self-deletion is not supposed to be encouraged or romanticized. But the situation is both dark and complex. There will be two characters, one who lost their life, and one who tires yet fails to save it. In the end, they will hand the world back to those they trust, and allow their own deletion to progress, not as a means of giving up, but to reunite with their beloved, in the after life.
~~~ I still want to ask, using this context, if the plot description there does or doesn't violate any guidelines.
