I personally refuse to submit a chapter less than 2k words unless it's absolutely vital to the story and needs to introduce a small amount of info. I aim for 4k, but between 3-5k is probably my sweet spot, though I don't think I have any 5k chapters. With my smutty book, I try to do 2k, with my more serious novel, 4k is the average.
