I wanted to play Skyrim today

Bought it on steam, was super happy I can get the dlcs with it. And then... it refused to load up properly. It just refused to let me play. I googled the problem, of course. Did everything written down on the holy pages of Reddit, the favorited videos of YouTube, and was just about ready to sacrifice a goat to Satan, when I realized something:

Back when I played Skyrim, the fun part was modding it. Because I already did all the quests in that game, and honestly, I know the map of Skyrim better than I know my own hometown.

So...

I asked for a refund, since I could not start it up at all, and my game time was 20 minutes, and now I am bored.

Does anyone know a good game, which will work well with Windows 11? Steam has a sale right now, and I would love to get me some brain rot (I mean, something to refill my creative well, which is about as dry as the Sahara.) I would like something easy, maybe with hunting and exploration. (And followers, male followers, so I can live my fantasy of being a gay in a fantasy world.)

Thanks for the help! =)

Dragon dogma 2 and deep rock galactic are both on sale and great games to play.

Barotrauma. :blob_reach:

Although you're gonna need a team to pilot the ship. Doing that alone... You're gonna suffer a lot.

Or you can play Need For Speed games, they're good for brainrot. Else, boot up Metal Gear: Rising, any of the Mortal Kombat games.

Skyrim should work just fine with Win11. Mine does. Try updating your GPU driver and turning off all the overlays (Steam, Discord, and Xbox Game Bar).
If it does start, I recommend installing Enderal if you are bored with default Skyrim.
It could also have been an installation bug.

I recommend you try Outer Wilds, but if you do, go into that game blind. (It's easy for a definition of that word, and there's a ton of exploration.)

+1, I felt that pain.

You could play Sims... base game is free on EA app and there is a sale right now for anything else. There are secret worlds to explore, foraging, etc. and you can be any sexual orientation you want. Just no hunting options.

Orcs Must Die is old so it's always cheap, don't know about on sale or not. You get to set traps and off orcs. No followers, but it's close enough to hunting, I guess? Plus, it'd probably be playable on a potato of a PC.

You could always play a classic like Stardew valley. You can get married, forage, farm, and raise animals while completing quests and befriending people. It's old so not too expensive and runs on most things. You get to off bats and things in the mines and can play co-op, so you can have a friend / spouse be your... follower.

Probably not great suggestions, but, hey, I tried.
