Apple is only good for branding and it's really simple to use. If all you do is watch tiktoks all day and make calls on your phone then just stick to Apple. Just know that an android can do the same thing but better.

Both are the same type of expensive now. You can buy the cheap ones, but they are cheap for a reason. These two companies are one and the same; really, the only difference is that Samsung offers cheaper model variants.
Not quite, but the similarity is there. These two are different.
Both are terrible companies but Samsung has been making better, cheaper, and longer lasting phones than Apple has produced for nearly 10 years. That, and Apples business model is constantly under scrutiny, whether it be them purposely slowing phones or refusing to allow non-Apple associates to repair their phones. Though Apple has better security on their devices so it's a matter of whether your security or your wallet is worth more to you.
Once again, Paul gives a better answer.
Samsung has better hardware.
Iphone has better software.

That's why the debate rages.
I... Welp, that's a good point.
If you need a keypoint that distinguishes apple and non-apple phone, there is one.

Apple products use exclusively their own operating system. The devices (phones) are made to support their OS and vice versa. Therefore, their devices even when the parts are worse than non-Apple phones have as high performance due to better efficiency. Hence, apply phones consumes less electricity and have no need for bigger battery but still compete with other non-Apple products in terms of operating hours before needing to be charged.

However, since Apple has absolute monopoly, every single app has to follow their own rule. They are the rule maker. They have no need to bend over. Meanwhile, android OS isn't as dominant. This means it is far easier to make android apps over iOS apps. This also means stuff that Samsung phones already have for numerous generations, Apple phones would only recently have it. This is why using Apple phones are like living in North Korea sometimes. I am using Iphone7 and I can not lock my screen in landscape mode and can only lock it on portrait mode which is something samsung phones two generations younger than iphone 7 can do. It's absolutely frustrating using Apple phones and products.

This is not mentioning the costs of Apple products and its Accessories (cables, earphones, etc.) are objectives more expensive than non-Apple phones with similar performance. This can be seen just by visiting my supermarket or electronic stores. There is no argument.

There is also the problem with the auto-slowing down phone performance due to old battery thing. This might not have been a big issue if not for the fact that Apple is designed to make third-party maintenance practically impossible. They want to maintain their monopoly in the accessories and post-purchase services so this becomes a very sensitive issue. You own an Apple phone but you don't actually own the phone.

This is not saying that Android phones are better. Remembering I said about Android is open and everyone can make an app more easily than iOS? Since the devices and OS are not created to support each other as tightly as Apple. Samsung had to invest in better hardwares to overcome this issue. Inefficient use of parts will mean parts have more wastage in operation. This is expressed as more heat, more electricity consumption of battery and since battery is consumed more and recharged more. You will need to replace them more. To illustrate it with a metaphor, if you are a city planner and sole job creator, you can decide where is the major residential area and where the residents will come to work. Hence you can invest in a big highway to handle the traffic from A to B. However, in Android case, you are job maker but not city designer. You can't decide which path the citizens will travel and therefore can not build sufficient roads to handle the traffic which creates inefficiency in the form of traffic jam. This is a bottle neck in the design.

Overall, there are both pros and cons but this phone will be my last iphone. I will never subject myself to the control of Apply again.

Fuck! Stuff Android people can do I have to jail break my phone. How fucking stupid is that?
Holy... What a paragraph.

Now, let me add some stuff.

Apple was strict with their customizability because they prioritized model, power, user-friendliness, and security. They built their own programming language just to make their devices more secure, it's called Swift. And they didn't stop there, they also have some requirements for developers to get their apps into the Appstore.

For Android, there are lots of brands you can choose, all with their own theme and features sometimes. We got OPPO, Xiaomi, Realme, POCO, Samsung, Huawei, Google Pixel, Itel, and more. Android is super diverse because it uses Kotlin (I'm learning this one as of now) as its base language for the OS and basically everything else that isn't websites, and JavaScript for the websites. As far as I know, these two are the main backbone of any Android phone out there.

Fun fact: Kotlin was made out of JavaScript. It's basically JavaScript, but easier and much better.
Apple fries your eggs, but Samsung blows them up. It really is a "pick your poison" situation.

Samsung can be charged using any old USB C. Apple needs a lightening cable, depending on the model.

It depends on which models people are talking about.

Iphone 12 is banned in France for releasing too much ionizing radiation. Columbia banned the iphone 13 as well.

You'd think that their safety team would take radiation seriously but apparently they don't.

Any older ones that don't use higher frequencies are safe though. I'm don't think playing around with irradiating their customers is a good idea. But what a world we live in now right?

Most of the world uses android phones. Apple is for the rich american. The rest of the world really don´t care what brand people use.

Apple is only good for branding and it's really simple to use. If all you do is watch tiktoks all day and make calls on your phone then just stick to Apple. Just know that an android can do the same thing but better.

For the rest of the answers, I'll sum it up.

If you have a basic need for a phone, go for Android. Iphone's designed for comfort, while Android's for mundane and/or specific purposes. Mind this difference.

On the other hand, androids work just as fine and—generally—without those problems on Apple stuff. I'd choose a Samsung over an iPhone any day.
Oh, but if your friend insists on buying an iPhone because of its branding, then it's a lost cause.
+1 to this.

ehh, Nokias these days are pretty good and affordable. you wont get the super highest tech available on the more expensive stuff but they are great mid-level yet affordable phones. my current and last 2 phones have all been Nokias and they've all worked great. the only pain in the ass is finding cases for them >.>

@OP go android. If your friend needs a high end phone, Samsung. if their fine with mid-range decent spec and quality there's plenty of brands at that level. If they're just after the branding, flashiness and pretentiousness then Apple... but just consider your friend a lost cause sheeple at that point.

I always wanted to try a nokia n9 but they are kinda obsolete at this point. Everyone copied the cool features for themselves.

I used to have an iPhone but I couldn't even download music on my phone without jumping through hoops. I couldn't use extensions like an ad blocker on the Firefox app. I couldn't install any app I wanted, like Newpipe to have YouTube without ads. Apple doesn't respect you, screw them. I'll never again use their products.

My friend has been debating over this topic for 7 freaking days and he is just boiling up my mind for someone else's product for no reason just because I said that samsung is better. Later on I also did some little research(scrolling through youtube). Sometimes I find a shorts where samsung works better and faster then I-phone and sometimes I find a shorts where I-phone works better and faster. I'm so done with this shit
They both use Samsung hardware. The screens and most of the components are made by Samsung, so why spend more for the exact same pos phone with a new shirt every year. The only thing iPhone users have that's special is Blue chat bubbles, and let's be real, who gives a fuck.

So I've pointed out every statement present here, in front of my friend but my friend just said that all of you guys are di*kheads and have no life and just changed to another topic and started to trash talk?

I see it as a poor idea to argue about preference. At the end, you use what works for you. What it feels better for you to use.

Apple is only good when it comes to carrier services working better (no crashing, stalling, or delay), and most app-game-based integration with usable hardware. That's about it.

Android tends to be the better choice where everything else is involved. Since there are shortfalls with both, it's usually more fruitful to own both (the iphone being the $100 - $200 model). That said, modern Samsung phones are one of the worst variations of android phones available. Hot take maybe, but I stand by it.

Kind of the same situation with Windows and Linux. I use both instead of one exclusively.

I have an expensive Samsung and other android phones. I've also used the latest iPhone and understand how both of them work. The features of android phones can always differ from each company and their values (Such as Redmagic prefers performance, Samsung overall, Sony camera, Huawei ecosystem), iPhone to me prefers more ecosystem. The main difference between the usage of each phone is that for android you can kind of control and do whatever you want, from changing the entire device layout, to changing the systems code(via rooting). While iPhone prefers that you only use their ecosystem, it took them a looong time to allow users to download apps from the web legally (like apks for android). If I tried connecting the latest airpods or any apple device to anything that isn't an apple product, it would either not connect or have some massive issues. The idea that iphones are expensive and that's why people buy them is not valid anymore, since also samsung and other phone manufacturers are releasing flagship(phone with latest systems and features with big performance.) I personally prefer samsung due to it's complexity, iPhone is just too simple, on purpose, but it's just not for me. The limits of features and control is the main breakpoint for me, there's a reason they call it Rooting when you hack through a android phone, as in your only going deeper in the system, and they call it Jailbreaking when you hack an iPhone, since it allows you to get out of all the restrictions. An average iPhone user wouldn't know how restricted they are until they have tried android and really dig through it. (I use the S22 Ultra Samsung phone, it has nice camera and performance)

Do you want to do custom things outside of what apple allows on their App Store? Pick Samsung. Otherwise it’s just personal preference and not that big a deal.

Exactly this. While it may not be (readily) available in the US, Huawei phones are that nice middle ground with the easy to use ecosystem and all the power of android. I've only used them for the past almost 2 decades. They're fairly durable unlike some iphones/apple tech have been.

I should also note that part of the reason is brand reliability and recognition as I currently live in China. Phones from Oppo are decent but don't really feel right (personal preference). The only other brand I'd consider is Xiaomi as they've begun branching into other areas (home appliances), meaning that I could control the AC and pull up a movie from my phone so that I could sit on my couch for a nice movie night when I got home.

For the friend saying we have no lives, @Aijikan , for some of us it actually is our life and they may not be the best kind of friend to have. So he's more than welcome to have a menage je trois with that cactus and the back of a porcupine while enjoying a durian smoothie.

He is just rage quiting from every topics, nowadays. I mean he himself just plays games the whole day-night, he follows every showoff shit, he doesn't like popular anime though. He also just makes fun of many handsome characters of anime, I think he might be jealous because girls are ready for... He is a rich guy, using apple smart watch, apple products and all. He just thinks that whatever is just popular, it's just total shit, I mean there is a reason for it to get popular. He calls himself an anime fan after watching doraemon, persona and noragami. He pulls off a joke in every conversation, I recognise that the joke is from reddit, he just totally declines to use reddit. Whenever any other friend of our group or me pull off a joke, he is like "bro it's cringe".

Anyways, I broke the debate and just told him to stop that because there is no reason to talk with cult base follower. We're still friends though

Samsung because of Android. Do you know how powerful the newest mobile CPUs are and how much power Apple hides from you on their fancy flagship toys? Snapdragon 8 gen 3, the main choice for current flagship phones can play switch games 30+ (60+ on some) fps on emulators, and I remember watching a dude play Skyrim AE at 45-50 fps on his phone using a Windows emulator. So yeah, both are good phones but one actually allows you to use the goodies.
