You should never burn bodies in the forest. You see, human bodies are very hard to burn. You need a lot of dry firewood just to dry out the water inside a human body. Even after that, there is a good chance that the burning would not be complete. Cremation is generally done at very high heat, inside a furnace. While you can make a furnace with dry wood, you need a lot of wood that can burn at high temperature, such as coal. But this is not a perfect solution, as the smoke will be seen from miles away. Also, human fat has this very distinct smell. If you have ever smelled a burning human body, you would know right away that its a human body. The smell is very different from everything else, except maybe pork but people with sensitive nose would still be able to tell the difference. Bones also do not burn.
Leaving them behind for wild animals can be a problem. After all, wild animals don't eat clothes or bones. So there would still be traces of your murder victims.
Burying them is a common solution. You do need to dig the ground, which could take a long time. Also, there would be traces of digging on the ground, which depending on where it is, the traces could last for weeks. Plenty of time for the police to find the place.
Ai-chan suggests the following:
0. If there is a wide river near your crime scene, cross it. Bring the bodies along, make sure the bodies are naked and that you put them under water for a few minutes to remove the surface scenes, then drag them like half a kilometer upstream keeping their naked bodies underwater. Dogs can still smell them, but at this point, their nose gets confused so while they can still more or less track you, they can't track the bodies unless they are already decomposing.
1. Cut the bodies up into small pieces. Separate the meat from the bones.
2. Leave them in places you know that wolves would come. Or if there is a deep river, cut the meat into even smaller pieces and throw them into the river. You do not want to throw the whole body into the river, as decomposition will cause gas buildup inside the body, making them buoyant. You also don't want to throw huge chunks of meat unless you have a very hungry crocodile, because those can get swept up on the riverside by the flow of the river. You want it to be small enough that even if fish didn't eat it and it washes ashore, people wouldn't know what those are.
3. Wash the bones. Smash the separated bones into very tiny pieces. Preferably until it's small enough to look like powder. Then mix them into water and then pour the solution under the roots of a large tree. Then cover with humus and leaves. Or, you could mix the smashed bones into clay and throw them into the middle of the river. It would sink and eventually settle to the bottom of the river. It would take years before any pieces wash ashore, and even if people can tell that those are human bones, they wouldn't know where it came from.
Too much work? Hey, you're the one who wanted to hide the bodies. You don't expect things would go so easy, do you?
