Inside a deep forest on a plain area.
A person killed three people, and now he wants to dispose off the bodies to not leave behind any evidences that would lead others to him. How should he do that?.
1.Burn the bodies to ashes.
2.Leave them behind for wild animals to eat.
3. Bury them.
I can't think of more options.

Assuming the forest has an endangered plant species, I recommend burying the bodies then planting said specimen over them. I don't know the exact laws regarding protection of endangered species, but this will likely dissuade a good amount of people.

Piranha Solution.

In large quantities it dissolves meat and bone. The issue isn't hiding the bodies, it's hiding your purchases/the scent, which isn't a permanent problem.

burning releases smoke. it's basically a signal to come investigate.
burying would take too much time since you'd have to do it at a certain depth otherwise animals would just dig out the corpses
leaving them would be the best choice, assuming no one stumbles across the corpses. they should disappear overnight. might want to take their clothes, accessories, weapons, etc.

I think burying them is the better option there, if he just leaves them there someone is bound to find them eventually, even if it takes a few years.
Burning just seems more risky in general, since he could risk a forest fire, or someone could notice the smoke, though I'm not so sure how it would actually work, I don't have a lot of experience in this.
Burying should be time consuming, but I don't think it has many risks, though depending on the location someone could bump into your guy if he takes too long.

Burning will leave bones. Cremations need to grind them to ashes.
Wild animals is a maybe. They might fully relocate the body or just nibble on pieces bits at a time and leave evidence.
Bury them deep then partially fill up the hole and put a dead animal above it to dissuade further investigation on the spot if a hound digs up the carcass.

Other options:
The you need jesus approach. Remove as much flesh as possible from the bones and leave it there. Animals will get to it. Carry the bones until you can dispose of it at random locations. No, don't just throw them off a cliff.

If you must, bury them is better.

Make sure to dig a six feet deep hole for each body in order to prevent curious animals sniffing and digging the bodies out and to prevent run overs to erode the earth too much until the bodies float out.

Though there has been debates on whether to just dig one huge hole for all three bodies or individual holes, I personally believe that digging individual holes is the best because the patching of the holes will be more inconspicious than just one big lump.

Burning is actually a solid idea, but you will need loads of fuel for burning the body as crematories run around 1400 f to 1800 f for a constant period of an hour or two for a clean burn. So not only are you prone to cause a forest fire, but you are basically telling everyone that something is wrong. Though if you can mask the fire and smoke, it is the best method of body disposal.

Personally I like the woodchipper method, not as clean because someone still got caught with his dead spouse's finger, but the idea of chopping the bodies into pieces and then feed them to the animals is great. But once again, too time taxing and you are leaving to the whims of the animals which is just terrible for evidence disposal.

Since it is the deep forest, how about hide them into or on top of the trees? People rarely look up.

You should never burn bodies in the forest. You see, human bodies are very hard to burn. You need a lot of dry firewood just to dry out the water inside a human body. Even after that, there is a good chance that the burning would not be complete. Cremation is generally done at very high heat, inside a furnace. While you can make a furnace with dry wood, you need a lot of wood that can burn at high temperature, such as coal. But this is not a perfect solution, as the smoke will be seen from miles away. Also, human fat has this very distinct smell. If you have ever smelled a burning human body, you would know right away that its a human body. The smell is very different from everything else, except maybe pork but people with sensitive nose would still be able to tell the difference. Bones also do not burn.

Leaving them behind for wild animals can be a problem. After all, wild animals don't eat clothes or bones. So there would still be traces of your murder victims.

Burying them is a common solution. You do need to dig the ground, which could take a long time. Also, there would be traces of digging on the ground, which depending on where it is, the traces could last for weeks. Plenty of time for the police to find the place.

Ai-chan suggests the following:
0. If there is a wide river near your crime scene, cross it. Bring the bodies along, make sure the bodies are naked and that you put them under water for a few minutes to remove the surface scenes, then drag them like half a kilometer upstream keeping their naked bodies underwater. Dogs can still smell them, but at this point, their nose gets confused so while they can still more or less track you, they can't track the bodies unless they are already decomposing.
1. Cut the bodies up into small pieces. Separate the meat from the bones.
2. Leave them in places you know that wolves would come. Or if there is a deep river, cut the meat into even smaller pieces and throw them into the river. You do not want to throw the whole body into the river, as decomposition will cause gas buildup inside the body, making them buoyant. You also don't want to throw huge chunks of meat unless you have a very hungry crocodile, because those can get swept up on the riverside by the flow of the river. You want it to be small enough that even if fish didn't eat it and it washes ashore, people wouldn't know what those are.
3. Wash the bones. Smash the separated bones into very tiny pieces. Preferably until it's small enough to look like powder. Then mix them into water and then pour the solution under the roots of a large tree. Then cover with humus and leaves. Or, you could mix the smashed bones into clay and throw them into the middle of the river. It would sink and eventually settle to the bottom of the river. It would take years before any pieces wash ashore, and even if people can tell that those are human bones, they wouldn't know where it came from.

Too much work? Hey, you're the one who wanted to hide the bodies. You don't expect things would go so easy, do you?

Burying seems like best way to hide some bodies.

Burning them would be to alerting.

Letting animals eat them would mean that it would take time for wolves and vultures to scavenge the remains.

Definitely bury them if possible, it has the least risk involved.

This thread is awsome.

"Burn them, it has the least risk!"

"Bury them, burning is risky since someone might notice the smoke!"

"Leave them for wild animals, if you bury them chances are they get dug up anyway."

"Burn them, that's the fastest way. Wild Animals might take too long to tear them apart!"

Then that one guy who says to use Piranha Solution...? Yes, because I just happen to carry a fifty-gallon drum of H2SO4, and ten gallons of H2O2 out into the woods with me, Just in case I need to mix some of that stuff up to melt a tree or something. I mean doesn't everyone do that...?

Ai-chan hit the nail on the head to explain why it is almost impossible to burn bodies.

Although I would add something. There is one thing that could save you if there is a river nearby: stab the corpses in the abdomen, open them wide. This would prevent them from floating, being that the gases are not going to accumulate in the guts. I think that would be the solution that would take the least effort. Dragging around corpses, unless they are children, is a gigantic effort (unless your character is supernaturally strong), so let's hope that river is nearby.

If there is no river, your best option would be to bury them.
Again, it's going to be a big effort, but as Ai-chan says, you're the one who wanted to hide the bodies.

Knowing the setting would be helpful. and how far into the woods you’re talking about. If this is in the middle of a place as large and empty as Wyoming you probably wouldn’t need to bother doing anything, even in the modern era. Going back just like 50 years you could worry even less, as for as long as you left the area you’d be hard to find due to limited communication with local law enforcements. If this is a medieval fantasy story like most on the site, just multiply the above by a hundred.

Plants often rot when growing over a decomposing body. If it's an endangered species, people might get upset and dig it up to try and save it from the rot. Ooops.
(unless your character is supernaturally strong),
Character? :blob_hmm:

Personally, I'd go with Ai-Chan's method, or something similar. Don't leave chunks big enough to recognized as human parts. Feed them directly to animals instead of hoping they'll do your work for you. Destroy all clothing, including your own, so that none of it can be found or 'oh, your shirt has blood on it! That's not suspicious or anything'. Keep a little meat so that if a search party forms, you can make stew for them. Wait- That last one is a bad idea, don't- Ah, too late.
