What I mean is, I've been married for going on 30 years now so I actually have no idea how to have a date. Like, what do the kids do these days anyways? I'd go to a firing range or something. So, like, assuming you were a normal teenager, I need like a proper date. Oh. Assume they're 16 and 17, in a warped version of Japan that's Japanese-ish, so it can be any sort of cultural setting. Don't worry about making it special or even memorable. Just... a date. I'll adapt it to the book somehow, because when I google this topic, I really don't buy it. I really believe it's being censored and I'm not finding any information on a real date, but some sort of strange delusion of what a date would be through the eyes of Disney. Post-Woke Disney, to be exact.

Do they even do Dinner and Movie anymore?

So, I'll take anything. A date you want to go on. A date someone else went on. The last date you went on. Male or Female perspective, don't care. Give me as much material as you got, I'll work out the specifics from there. Tell me how it went, or just give me the 10,000 foot view, don't care, but I really have no clue what a date would be in the year 2022.

In any case, it doesn't need to be nice at all. Just go to some places that you have fun just by being together. Bowling, visit some scenic places or locations where you can interact and be alone together to talk. Uh...I don't know how this relationship stuff works, I don't even have a friend to hang out with....

Don’t plan stuff. The core idea of the date is that both of you get to spend time together and have fun, that’s it. Don’t think too much about it. If you’ve been married for 30 years, then I think you guys should have known each other in and out already. Don’t worry about it too much. You can go on a classic route, if that what you want to. No need to imitate kiddies. Go anywhere you want, do whatever you want, eat wherever you want, shit wherev— ahem, I mean have fun wherever you want. Just enjoy each other’s presence. Good luck, soldier. Have fun~

Dec 25th, it's a good date or Feb 3rd. I really like both of those.

Honestly we still just do movies and dinner mostly. In Asia karaoke is also popular basically the two of you go in and sing couple songs. The room is private so you can get your smooch on, or you can do a double date so someone is always singing when you two do your thing. If you are wild you can go to a nightclub and dance together although this is rarer. Then there's going to places of interest, amusement parks, festivals, and parks.

If you are of legal age some couples go book a hotel and do a staycation. Sometimes they go overseas or to different regions using cheap air tickets and airbnb to keep costs down. This is possible now because travel can be quite cheap so you can just take a quick weekend trip, go from tokyo to kyoto, go to a next-door country, etc. I had a friend take a quick trip, a weekend cost them about $500, (200 for tickets, 100 for accommodations and 200 for food). For those kinds of trips, they tend to bring condoms because... reasons.

Basically the old-fashioned stuff still kind of works, there are just more options now. Honestly, a firing range sounds like a fun date if the girl is ok with it. Also, I'm not sure about back then but there's a lot of sex now amongst couples, sex after marriage is like this old-fashioned thing honestly.

Generally there's a meal and some kind of activity. Be it movie, park, beach, claw games, or an amusement park. Generally you scale up in activity price over time.

McDonald’s and the dollar menu. Best date ever in my book. You get more bang for you buck and create memories… According to what my brother said. Anybody on here looking for a boyfriend? We can get McDonald’s!

You want to know how a typical Japanese date goes? Ai-chan already answered that in https://forum.scribblehub.com/threads/life-at-a-japanese-school-ama.8692/

In 2022, dinner and movie? No. For 16 and 17, a typical date would involve window shopping and walking. Lots of walking, because you can't ride 2 person on a bike. And then lunch together. Typically, no dinner is involved as they're expected to be home by 8pm. Or 6pm, considering most of them would have to go to cram school after their date. So on a school day, a typical date would be between 4-6pm, where they would talk, walk, eat ice cream/churros/waffles whatever strikes their fancy. Weekend dates can start at around 10, but it still won't go further than 6pm.

Doesn't sound very romantic? Of course it's not. Contrary to the sensationalism of manga and anime, a typical schoolgirl's life is pretty boring. If you live in the countryside, you'd be able to do more hobby activities, but when you're in the metropolitan area, your options are only karaoke, games arcades or playing games together with friends. That is assuming your parents do not send you to cram school.

BTW, you can't have sex in Japanese karaoke rooms. The door is see-through glass or there is a glass part on the door. It's also usually monitored with CCTV. Ai-chan was told it's a common thing now, and apparently, all karaoke rooms in Tokyo has cctv. 16-17 year olds also can't enter night clubs. If they're caught in a night club or host club, the club would be closed for fear of underaged prostitution.

These folks don't date. I do. And this is what I do on a first date, but you can use it with your wife.

OK, You're going to take your date to Two places. the first she'll meet you at. The second she won't know about, but LOGISTICS!! the second spot can't be too far from the first spot.

#1 The first place you take your wife should be a simple fun spot. Go for coffee in a place you've both either wanted to try, or heard About. If you don't like coffee then get tea (don't be ridiculous). The point is coffee shops are usually easy, not intimidating and you and your date can get your bearings and talk over the new flavor you've both tried. But the coffee shop is a ruse to lower her guard. She's going to sit and get comfortable for a moment. That's when you're like, "Let's go to this other spot that I made arrangements for."

#2 The second spot. I don't care where it is. Just so long as it's someplace that will make her smile, and SHE DEOSN'T KNOW YOU'RE TAKING HER!!! that's the key point. The coffee shop was a distraction. An appetizer. Hopefully once you leave the coffee shop you can walk toward the next spot you'll take her. That way you can hold her hand, pinch her ass. All that fun stuff.

I fkn hate people, but I do snu-snu ^ here's one way i do.

It surprises me you've been married for 30 years, yet don't take your wife on the occasional date. Perhaps you do, but can't consider it "modern" for intents and purposes. Needless to say, I've been with the same person a few years and I usually take her out on a date once or twice a month. Personally, our thing is simply to seek out experiences. We go on art walks, where we will go to various galleries and places to discover, and perhaps talk to local artists. Seek out any new restaurants, while not being afraid to revisit "old favorites" now and then. We look to see if there are any activities or festivals the city we live in are putting on we would like to try. My partner really likes victorian era stuff, so we sometimes dress up in vintage clothes and go have tea or even go dancing. We take some local tours that interest us, despite already living in this city for quite some time just to get a fresh perspective of the place. I'm not sure things have changed all that much for people. You just got to ask yourself what you and your partner like, and what they are interested in, then go find something to fit your niche. It can be as simple as a bar room night karaoke. Hell, I just took my girlfriend down to a cafe to enjoy coffee & a open mic night story/poetry reading. (Yes we are serious art nerds) It shouldn't be too hard to imagine something to fit your characters.

*Just reread that, and realize the first part comes off as a bit critical or judgmental. I did not intend that. I was just genuinely surprised. If you can stay with somebody for 30 years I really respect that. I'm hoping to achieve that and more.

Umm... I've been married for over 40 years. I think I'd like to read about a date to the firing range. Especially if that's something you know!

It all depends on the people and their interests. One of my favorite dates was when an artist took me to an art museum and basically gave me a personalized tour. He swept me into an alcove for a kiss and whispered some things in my ear. After that, we had a picnic in the park outside the museum, took a little hike in the nearby woods, and snuck into the bushes for a little more intimacy. I'm glowing just thinking about it!

I'm not a fan of going to the movies. The seats are uncomfortable, you can't pause the movie to get more food or water, and you can't replay things you missed. That's why "Netflix and chill" has replaced dinner and a movie.

Cooking dinner at home for someone is not only less expensive but is also a great way to show off your cooking skills. Dates at home count as dates.

Actually, I'll be using that as a brother sister bonding experience.
