I just realized that the "unique" items that can be sold in those VRMMORPGs are just NFTs.

Depends on the world imo. If its an actual game then nah its just database entries and extremely fungible if the game wanted it to be. If its one of those super atomic AIs that make basically an actual world, or an actual alternate reality thing then its an NFT, cuz its a 'real' object that has unique points others don't(like how two swords cast from the same mold form very slightly different).

Ah, not really, I mean... Limited time promotions, super rare unique items and whatnot have been a thing long before NFTs have existed.

NFT doesn't mean unique item. NFT means scam based on an unefficient environment-harmful technology.

The special items from games are things we already had, like... IIRC someone once found a serious bug on Team Fortress 2 and reported it, so the person got a special unique hat as a reward.

Or like, in Tibia there were some Golden Boots early on in the game, then IIRC they stopped dropping, so they became unobtainable for every new player and stuff. So they were mega ultra rare and the like... I think it was re-released nowadays though, not sure.

So yeah, super mega ultra rare items have been a thing since forever. And they may or may not be unique. NFTs have absolutely nothing to do with that~
