Writing that made me want donuts, so bad.
Writing that made me want donuts, so bad.
I think @K5Rakitan gets a box full of those long john donuts. That is why she writes reverse harems.Harems? Why? It's easy.
Dudes like to eat donuts, but not just any donut- every donut.
To get those donuts, you have to go to a shop. But there are multiple shops and every shop has a different kind of donut.
Going to multiple different shops mean you can taste all of those different donuts.
So, Dudes like having multiple shops open to them so they can eat as many donuts as they like. If they get bored of one shop, there are other shops they can eat from.
But, that's the difference between Dudes and Men.
Dudes will forget about the donuts they don't like or get tired of. Some might pick two or three favorites and visit the others only on certain occasions. Some might try them all and then not eat any ever again. Some might just pick one and ditch the rest! Absolute buffoonery, that last one, if you ask me.
Men, on the other hand, never forget. Real men order from every shop equally to indulge in every available flavor. Because every donut is delicious in its own way.

I've read and finished Release that Witch. 1498 Chapters. Even though I really liked the novel, there were definetely a LOT of weak arcs\chapters. And the reason is pretty simple. Other arcs\chapters are simply so much better. Some arcs also feel very prolonged for no reason, while some chapters feel like fillers. They don't add a single thing.Up to date I've read only two "really long" novels (online). That is, above 500 chapters. "Azarinth Healer" and "Defiance of the Fall". First one of these I have temporarily put aside around chapter 600, because I felt tired of it. Second one I'm still reading. (Author is currently on vocation for a month, so, not actually). I can't say, that some parts were worse, than oter.
UPD: Uhm... I remembered, that "Profane Prince of Domination" was also nearly 600 chapters. ? Well, 18+ scenes became rather bland and self-repeating from some point, but story (adventures, worldbuilding, battles) never dropped in quality, rather, it became better closer to the end.
Seeing responses like this to other novels has me on the fence as to how much I want to divert into Side Characters and how far I want to push from the Main Story line of my novel. I know I want to expand on a few and there are plenty of opportunities to do so, but doing it without turning things into a One Piece side quest seems rather tricky.I've read and finished Release that Witch. 1498 Chapters. Release that Witch had a lot of chapters that were dedicated to side characters, and I really liked them a lot, since each chapter developed and fleshed out those characters a lot. At the same time, there were 'war' arcs with chapters that added exactly zero to the plot. It felt like I was simply reading a very bland report. Plus, this is obviously my subjective preferences acting up. What I want to say is, I would've definetely favorited all the chapters with side characters, while the boring reports would've not get any hearts from me.
Well, I'm non-representative in that sense. Plus, Release that Witch is as I mentioned 1498 Chapters, while the amount of side characters chapters is very little, at least based on my feeling since I don't have the stats. It's like 200 chapters or so, but almost every side character was entangled with MC in one way or form, plus those chapters are spread out. Moreover, readers that dislike such chapters can safely skip majority of those chapters, since they rarely added to the plot.Seeing responses like this to other novels has me on the fence as to how much I want to divert into Side Characters and how far I want to push from the Main Story line of my novel. That or I'll need to make a separate posting category/novel title strictly for the side characters and side arcs. Just to keep the main storyline clean and tidy.

Every answer I have to this question will insult someoneAnd Anti-Cake Dungeon Delving and the Herbal Dungeon are the most read, which begs the question:
Why do people like harems so much?
