How would you feel if an author wrote a polyamorous story that features more than four people but the story is not tagged as a harem?

How would you feel if someone were to exclude a harem tag for a polyamorous story that features more than four love interests who all love each other eventually? Do you think it is incorrectly tagged or do you believe that it is properly tagged?

If its they all love each other and not grouped around one central figure then yeah it's probably proper to consider it not a harem

I would be very upset if it DID have the harem tag. Harem has a rather clear definition and it's a completely different thing from a polyamorous story.

While most sites don't provide a proper tag for that, most authors provide information about a poly relationship in the synopsis or author's note.

I'd definitely make sure you include *something* to differentiate it from a monogamous relationship just to reduce the chances of bigoted AHs harassing you. Most of the more vanilla people are used to looking for harem tag not whatever else, so that could complicate things for you if you exclude it. Personally, I rarely look at tags and mostly just read the blurb.

harem is having multiple exclusive lovers/wives. harem is not poly. I have found a poly novel tagged as harem before and was quite displeased.

They attract very different audiences so if they aren’t exclusive with the MC being the core of the relationships I wouldn’t tag it harem and would just point it out in the synopsis.

There isn't a polyamory tag. There are polygamy and polyandry both of which imply that 1) There is a primary person and 2) That person's relationships are all hetero. There is no tag for general poly relationships.
