How often should you post?

Hi!

I just posted my first chapter on here a few days ago, but I have a total of 9 already written. Is it best to post everything you have all at once/as you write it? Or is it best to space it out?

On SH you don't want to bulk upload since the system will see it as spam. Long story short, you will get a lot less views. If you want to, you can post multiple chapters in one day, but you should spread your releases. Wait for at least a couple of hours between uploads.

Space it out as much as you need to keep it regular. If that means once a week, or once every two weeks, then schedule it. Keep it regular, same time, same day. Convey that information to your readers as well. Be aware that the longer your story gets, the slower your writing speed will become (due to information upkeep costs - i.e. what did that character do/say 20 chapters ago again?), so plan accordingly for slowing down.

I post once a week, it gives me enough time to write a chapter when I run out of backlog and it's often enough for readers to get their fix.
Perfect, thank you!!

That makes a lot of sense, thank you!!

I got told many times that uploading like ten chapters in ten days and keeping a regular schedule afterwards works well. Some give higher numbers like 14 or 21 but in principle, the idea is to get many people to see your story in a short time an publish enough so that people can get a rough idea what your story is about, so they stick to the story when the releases slow down.
The initial releases should be at different times so that you reach people all over the world and not just in America, and after that, you release it when most Americans are online, as they make up the majority of readers.

Thats what i was told. But who knows...

How long did it take you to write those 9 chapters? Just don't post faster than you can write them but try to keep a consistent schedule instead.

Well, first, I'd go into the upper right corner and use the search engine because this question has been asked and answered a dozen times.

Every three days seems to work best if your goal is to maximize views.

i started uploading with only 2 chapters written, but i've been posting everyday for about 2 weeks. I'll keep going until i feel every other day suits me better

I post when I want. If they don't like it they can take it up with the manager!
I love that haha

That makes sense! how were you able to add that signature? The one that says 'Read my book?' that is so cool!

Thank you for letting me know! I am still new hear and unsure how to navigate so I appreciate the advice.

It did take me quite awhile so that is a good point!

Never all at once, always space it out. The people who post 1 chapter a day for a week will get more views than the person who uploaded all 7 chapters at once.

Twice a week is probably a good minimum, once a day is good if you can manage it without burn out. I personally would do once every two days

Yes, once or twice a week is great. its definitely better than getting seven updates in one day and not seeing any updates for a whole month.

I'm planning a once weekly release, with at least 5 left in the magazine. This will allow me to have a regular release schedule and as my writing improves, if I feel comfortable, I'll move it up to two.

I was at 9 chapters when I started the one I have up here. Did two the first week and one a week since. Now am at, I think 16 chapters and put the seventh up today.
