Hey some of us are broke adults! I make like $0.08 a month on all my writing, mostly articles. ?

how much you make really depends on where you publish and monetize your books, and the level of popularity they reach, which is a combination of algorythm luck, advertising (buying ads), and also their genres of popularity.
It can vary wildly everywhere and even if you learn how much people make it won't really help you at all. You should be asking how to monetize your work instead

It is either the UK or Canadian spelling. I grew up reading Tolkien and H. P. Lovecraft so have a bad habit of randomly mixing UK and US spellings myself (much to the chagrin of spell-checkers).

Oh, and the mom reference... as my mom used to pay a lot for good fiction (now she just gets it at the library so she does not have to find a place to store it), I could see her spending money just on a writer to write... :D

Dude that is Middle Class income in the USA and Upper lower Class income in some big cities like LA and NY. I have a family to feed, clothe, house, medical, and pay for extra education related stuff. Significant Other and me is a 1+1=2 as far as costs goes, with kids though it becomes a logarithmic N to the power of N kids cost progression. Kids are EXPENSIVE. If it was solely me? yeah I would be nicely set.
