How many classes do you say is to many or does it not matter to you, there's a lot to go into about this example power balance and rarity, as I wrote my story I chose to limit the classes to just ten which brought me to remember why and it's to give them weight and purpose.

So for both reader and authors, skimmers or immersionists. For a litrpg story when the choice of class comes into play do you prefer it to be limited or not? If so why what's the line to you?

Ps I won't be able to respond this came to me in class and I'm working right after. I'll check in tommow.

probably past 7 or 8, after that, it'll be as good as being subclasses.

EDIT: I decides to lower the numbers. That'll be 6, at least for main classes.

I don't really mind either way, both limited options and options for anything imaginable can be nice. I might prefer there being a lot of options with interesting specialities.
But I don't read litRPG for the system, but instead the story.

As many as you want.

As the LitRPG author, you aren't bound by the technical limitations of the actual game, computer or tabletop, as at no point you would have to establish what each class does, or how they balance against each other. The protagonist would never probably never seriously consider those classes, assuming he receives the complete list. Either he skims through the list, or is going to select something counterintuitive, even if the system tries to convince him otherwise, so functionally, you have only a single class, and that always wins (which is presented as the smart choice as audience likes smart protagonist)

I also don't mind either way. Tho I'm always interested on the mechanics behind non-fighting classes, production roles, leadership, management, research, exploration, etc. I personally would've liked it if they were their own separate thing and not be "classed", but that would open up to exploitation I guess.

This can be interpreted at least in three different ways with starkly different answers.

Personally, I prefer if the choice of class is theoretically unlimited, but restricted by some external (like higher beings) or internal (like unlocking requirements) factors. In general, however, I'm fine with any system that makes sense.

Better question is, how many glasses is too many? Yes, I read it like that. As for question, more than 6 starting ones.
