I don't think you should be tuning your chapter length to your posting schedule.
You should set your posting frequent to the speed at which you are able top compose you chapters.
You should be thinking about what length of chapters your want to write, then adjust your posting schedule to that.

If you are looking to do it professionally, you go with the market, the market doesn't come with you, unless you've already 'hit' and have a fanbase ready to read your work within your set of rules.

If you can't go with its flow, then you are not ready. Of course, there are exceptions, but you shouldn't be basing yourself over them, again, if you are looking to do it professionally. If not, you are free to set your rules however you like, whatever length, whatever schedule.

If you want to know more about writing as a job here's the article: https://www.royalroad.com/forums/thread/116847

With how crazy my life has been, I'd be lucky to get a chapter written in a month. Bonus points if it's 2 chapters in a month. Brownie points if it's 3 chapters in month, b/c I'd be really cooking then.

Would SH readers be satisfied with one chapter per week at that length?
Friend, once a week is fine. As long as you don't go into hiatus, then you are doing great. Post as often as you can without burning yourself out.

every few months, but nobody reads my story anyway.
They lost interest. You should not go more than 1-2 weeks without posting.

Length varies depending on the story. I have about 50 or 60 chapters of several stories sitting around waiting to be posted somewhere. I tend to do two per story per week, but sometimes only one.

I know. Just can't help it. I'll probably just finish the damned thing and start promoting once it's finished and polished.

I write at a speed that makes George R.R. Martin look like a pulp fiction writer, so, out of mercy for any readers, I plan to finish the entire work, then post. I figure posting will be on a 3-4 chapters a week on a M-W-F(x2) schedule, with an average word count of 3k. To balance new chapters for readers without swamping them with more than can be read easily.

Depends on the story, the project size, project type, (and with some variance ~ chapter word count).

I've got my Leray project going at about 2-3 chapters every Monday and Thursday, so 4-6 per week (I want this to be the set speed even if it feels fast). Backlog already established and under editing.

However, another parallel project I have which is not finished, Overlap 2, is only publishing one chapter per week. I did this knowing I would have such little time to work on it and generate any backlog. In fact, that story is at high risk of going on Hiatus right now, sadly.

Many factors will determine the speed, and you have to decide based on them. Simulate what it would look like for you months ahead of time.

i do one chapter a day of roughly 1350-1500 words. But I built up a 100 chapter to get to that point, I’m a full time aspiring writer though, soooo besides playing with my cat ? I don’t have a life.
