Writing How do you write more words faster?

Vomit draft.

You basically do stream of consciousness writing in the general direction of your story, then clean it up until it becomes something good. You'll spend a lot more time editing, but you'll get your ideas out, and that's the most important thing. If you keep yourself locked up with your doubt, you'll get nothing done at all. I used to have that problem; I hate putting unrefined words on a page, but trying getting everything perfect the first time is toxic to yourself. Not only will you fail, but you'll fail slowly.

Just write. Just write.

One thing that really helps is proper typing technique. I took a typing class in sophomore year, but you could get the important bits with a practice program online. It also helps if you love what you do. Being stressed about what other people think will muddle your brain space, and slow down words per minute output.

Actually, I don't know how people write faster without getting drunk. I'm a perfectionist even when it comes to fan fiction, so that's why I made a career of editing. No pitches, please. I don't have time for more work right now.

Is their a way, a voice command typing or something? You speak a sentence then the device will type it for you, then you can edit it afterwards with your own logic as you slowly correct its grammar?

I have always wandered if their is such a magical thing, a machine that can keep up with your thoughts... You just have to storytell it, then the story will write by itself! That would be revolutionary, I mean if my fingers are exhausted, then I will do this. If I become parched, then I will return to typing...

This... I think this is the ultimate form of writing. To write with your thoughts...

Ahem, here we go: plan out beforehand—the more details, the easier time you’ll have when you write. Get in the zone—try to read or watch something you like until you feel the sudden urge to write. Lastly, just have fun!

Depends on what is your priority.

If you want quantity over quality, CN web authors are the best to emulate. They can even prolong an otherwise short story for decades!

My brother actually read a CN webnovel where the MC basically walked towards his destination for several chapters @1k words each. The only variations are the people he met and the things he saw. My brother dropped that story altogether.

If you go quality over quantity, taking your time is great. It's better that you mind your story's elements and flow before releasing them into the wild.

A story is an author's reflection, after all.

Ay bro! Same . When I write, I always lay down so that I don't need a proper posture when sitting while making the chapter.

I also rather make novel in a phone than computer since you can use 'phone view' in ms doc in phone.

I actually can't write 1k worth of words that explains how a character get to point A to point B. The best I could do is spend 2 paragraphs max. But, yeah I never liked reading these kind of scene either. Soo I avoid writing something similar.

Ah, you know most CN webnovels nowadays. I can't speak for everyone but as I said to other threads, the contract these sites give to you always stipulates writing a thousand or two words a day for a whole month with only two days absent max (if you can't submit a 1k or more chapter to your editor), for a meager salary.

I think many CN authors themselves are talented. It's just that, their need for money hinders them from achieving the true potentials of their works.

As for us, while getting yourself able to write a chapter, or two in a day, what's more important is that you enjoy what you write, since this is also one of the factors that would determine if your work would end in hiatus, or an actual ending.

External story versus internal story? 1K is a bit much for a normal walk, but a lot of underwriters do forget to spend time 'thinking out loud' with their character -- showing readers how they are processing everything and letting them into their character.

Re writing a lot of words quickly, I reckon using your RW downtime to plan next steps works great. On the bus or going for a run or something and thinking 'how would this character face that problem?' and 'how would everyone else react?' If you are like me, you race to the keyboard as soon as you walk through the door to get it all down.
