How do you write a new volume of your novel? Continue in the same, or new book?

I am close to finishing the first volume of my novel.
So should I just continue in the same fiction, and label chapters as volume 2... chp 1 OR create a separate novel with volume 2?
Which is better?

Continue in the same, imo. It's the same story in the end, just another volume. If it was a prequel, sequel, spin-off, or something else in that bag, you should publish them separately, but there's no point doing that if it's just a continuation.

I have book 1 and book 2. Eventually there will be a book three, but they are intended to be read in order.

If your going volume type then stay on the same book and just continue with an indication when volume 2 starts.

Just keep writing it. As long as it flows from one volume to the next then it's good.
