Cant speak for others but I like my own writing.

I would not write if didnt think my writing was 10/10 to me.

Other people that read it tho...:sweating_profusely:
So you write for your satisfaction (existence), not for the satisfaction of others (market)? Good job!

No you are not, you are a 3 at best. What is wrong with you people? I am not discrediting your work, hell, is better than mine by a way long shot. I am just a 1 (couse It cant go lower). But we all have a lot to improve. We aint no shakespeare, none of us.
Be humble so can keep improving.
Again, not discrediting your work, your readers dont lie, you are good, but not that good.
Bro, you're not wrong, and neither are they. The rating is based on the "author's opinion"; it's purely subjective. If they rate it 10/10, it's not wrong; perhaps they appreciate the hard work they've put in because no one else can. Or they rate it 5-7, perhaps they feel their novels have weakness and strength. Everyone has their opinion.

Dude, don't be a dick. Stop telling people what their opinion on their own work has to be.
No, I am not being a dick. How about stop hindering people progress.
How many people started writing fanfiction, got a good result and considered themselves a "good writer" then tried with an original, got no readers at all and dropped it or went back to fan fiction? A lot.
They are good writers, the problem is their ego grew too much, they didnt took into consideration the most important thing was the idea they were adding upon was already built... they are good writing scenes, dialog, but are a bad at world building, if someone told them that maybe they would focus on that and fix it. But no one did.
Be humble, rate your self realistically, learn were you are lacking and improve.
Yes, you can be a good writer.
Yes, there is chance that you might be the next JK Rawling with 1000 million euros.
Yes, it is posible, but it wont happen if you already think you are at a literature novel winner level.
If you dont like my comment that is a you problem.
Me? I rate my self at 1 and in 10 years I will get the novel. (If i dont, at least I tried, and tried hard)

Well, there is a slight possibility that Shakespeare wasn't Shakespeare (and he wrote plays not fiction. Having tried both, it's a VERY different skillset... I'm probably a 2 or 3 out of ten at that, maybe getting up to 5 for some scenes), as there is some indication he used a lot of incomplete plays other authors had abandoned, spun into his own distinct "voice" in his works.

Is not subjective. My work aint good becouse of 40 people that start reading only 2 keep reading. That is it. There is nothing subjective here. They know their work is not 10/10, you know is not 10/10. You just dont wanna "hurt their feelings".
Well, no, you work is not 10/10 is not even 5/10, but you can improve. You can improve a lot.
As a wanna be writer (serius writer), the comments I apreciate the most are the objectivelly critical ones.
The only review I have in my fantasy is a great example. He gave 5 start for effort, I think he shouldnt, btu I dont care about that. What he criticized was the important thing.
I quote " the narration feels so dull and lifeless I was discouraged from exploring the novel further, and was forced to drop it merely a few chapters in. It was emotionless, empty, and I was left with no desire to explore the world that was only mechanically hinted at, and the generic names did not help the case in the slightest. I don’t know how the world feels, and how it looks like, only that it does have magical powers restricted only to the lucky, privileged few."
This is a great critic, he is right. I am a dull, emotionless, practical person.
Even if you guys try to push against me becouse of the "subjective" It wont work, If there is a palpable metric to quantify something I wont go for "subjective". It incomprehensible to me, ilogical, irrational.
So, I cant change my personality, but I can twist the way I write so is more palatable to the people who might read me.
Always be thankfull to people who signals your mistakes and bring you back to earth, they are trying to help you.

That is a very acceptable self assesment. You got the choice to improve on your strengths or complement in your more lacking areas... or both. And that is what I mean, you know you aint perfect.
PD: Shakespeare was just the first that came to my mind.
I'll rate my writing as:

hummm... that is... how many pancakes? just to be clear were we stand.

Your statement is beyond the scope of this thread. Remember, the initial question emphasized "the author's opinion," rather than the opinion of readers or literary experts. It was clearly subjective from the start. Yes, I appreciate you for being objective, systematic, and measured. That's great! But not everyone is like you. If rationality is the primary benchmark, why do erotic stories go viral faster in SH than Sci-Fi, philosophical, or genres that require thought? The reality is that the reading experience is entirely subjective. If people know erotic stories can damage their brains, why do they continue to read them? This is irrational. The harsh reality is that emotions play a greater role when reading; instead of criticizing the novel, readers actually "feel" the world of the novel.

Imagine being so high on the smell of your own farts that you'd see people saying their own work isn't complete and utter garbage and think "IF NOBODY ELSE WILL PUT A STOP TO THIS, I WILL!" lol

If 5 is the average, I genuinely think I'm better than average, so I'd say somewhere between 6-7.

On a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being My Immortal and 10 being [insert the greatest author alive here], how would you rate your own writing?

Greatest author alive here... comprehension is very important to answer a question.
Wouldnt you agree?

Now I understand the meaning of the name. Very apropiated. The most excellent choice.
That been said. I will let the matter rest. Aparently my aproach to reality is not welcome. Since that is the case, I will keep to myself.

I personally would rate myself like a solid 3.6 because i don't consider myself the best and I still have a lot to learn, as my friend says "Add all of the 5 senses to your writing as you already have visualisation... May be too much but you lack smell, touch, hearing." Thats why I rated myself a 3.6 (my friend said that for foundation of talents)

I'm a fire 10/10. No, kidding. Not sure how to rate my writing, I suck at self-rating. But, if I really had to, maybe 7/10 on the descriptions but 5/10 on anything action. 1/10 on anything smut, I am so bad at it. It's hilarious.

With my limited experience, I have no idea what level I genuinely am. To be able to rate myself as average would be enough for me right now. But it's probably below; however, I'm striving to improve.

I would give myself an 8/10 for the first chapter, then all my skills disappear and it becomes a 3/10.
