I get stuck pretty easily, and I used to be better, I think.

I wrote a lot of really terrible short stories (or notes for longer things I never finished) in JHS and high school but the one thing I was never short on was names. I've just been raiding those when I need "fantasy" names (mostly last names) for my current work; I've even got a couple of pages of awful vocabulary from the conlang ("Old Imperial") I put together then, and then I've also been pulling a lot of the surnames come from that or from a "fantasy war of the roses" storyline I put together and have written the first few pages of 3-4 times.

Many of the names I use in my current work-in-progress are intended to be references to something, or reflective of the character. I suspect that's mostly for my own amusement, but if it turns out to provide enough amusement for one of my readers to comment on it it would seriously make my day when it happens :D

re, Bob the necromancer, I kind of lampshade that sort of thing in my current work... bolding added for emphasis here:
“Guildmaster?” a voice said. Irziben was interrupted from her reminiscence, and realized that it was Kallen, the young wizard who had invented the gate. She was standing there with Roberto - the wizard who had rediscovered what could be done with unattuned ore. He was atypical, having kept the name his parents had given him after joining the guild; it spoke to his lack of imagination, although she could mostly forgive that given his diligence.

7? I am diligent as hell. My current story is vaguely Ancient Greek in theme, so practically every character and place and horse has some logic to its name. Like, all the Five main cities in my world are vaguely Classical Antiquity, but I have thrown in little touches, like one has more Greek-origin names, others more Latin-origin, and a one is Romansch.

The problem is, I completely forget the logic of the names the second after I choose them... So there is tons of effort, but f*cked if I can remember what that effort actually was.

I use sometimes a name generator so a 0(zero)? I am kinda weak in terms of retrospection. :blob_hmm_two:

My most creative naming would be either through mnemonics or randomly picking consonants then inserting vowels in between.

For example, Alfir. It came from the word 'Frail', which I later realized can also be spelled as 'Flair'.
Another example. I liked the words 'Exiled King'. Using these words, I tried to write a name. Finally, I ended up with 'Link Ge. Exid'.
From my random varieties— I think of a P, K, N, and S. Then trial and error with the five vowels. In the end, I got Pikins. That sounds like a first name, but I want it as a surname.
I think of a Z and N. My choices are Zan, Zen, Zin, Zon, and Zun. I felt that Zan fits best with Pikins, thus ZAN PIKINS!

I am a sucker for isekai fantasies, magical elements, and superhuman stuff.
Please rate my naming sense. I humbly ask for your cooperation :blob_neutral:. :blob_paint::blob_reach:

For Japanese , English and Filipino names. I'll say 6-7/10 cause I like to make it too with their personality.

For other countries, I'll say 4-5/10 like Korean, Russia, Europe if i ever make one

1/10. I do not invent anything. I use the name of real people.
The first minion to die will have the name of the aggressive neighbor, I also use the name of my classmates from high school and college.
Often, during exams, I used to name my character according to the thing in my lessons.
The result is that I can not show these stories to them or else they will recognise themselves.
Someone remember the author from, Hail the king, he had one of the better naming senses.
Luffy, Messi, Christiano Ronaldo, Ronaldinho. He used all the stars from the football champions league.

There were also the one from the tower of God with
Kun Aguero Agnes
Twenty-fifth baam
Jiule Viole Grace.

I think that you gain a better naming sense when you give name with a purpose or with a meaning and that you respect a concept.

So forget what I said above,
I am at least at 5/10
